IT WAS THE "BOYFRIEND" SPEECH Last night President Obama's speech did not impress me. I'm sure you're shocked. But aside from it's complete lack of specifics on ANYTHING, I couldn't quite figure out why the speech fell so flat with me. Then it struck me. I'd heard this speech before. You know when you're in a relationship that has gone past it's shelf life, and maybe a new guy has started to notice, even woo you. All of sudden, the boyfriend realizes he is about to be dumped, and there is a flurry of activity designed to remind you of how awesome he is in the hopes you don't break up with him. That was the speech Obama gave last night. It started with a look down memory lane, to the hopeful, young man he was when you first met him. Then he reminded you of how much you'd been through. How bad things had gotten. And how HE was there to lean on in times of need. Then he subtly talked smack about his competition. You don't want THAT guy, do you? He then went quickly into, "it's not about me, it's about you", filling your head with empty platitudes about how great you are and how much you've contributed to the relationship. And then he reasserted himself as THE boyfriend. The one who had to put up with all your crap when you were cranky, doing the heavy lifting so you didn't have to. Then there was the misty eyed hope about our future. He lays out how he wants to get married, and can't wait to have children, even though nothing he's said or actually done to this point indicated this previously. And he wraps things up with the "give me another chance and everything will be different this time" spiel and the speech was over. Read the speech and tell me I'm wrong. I've heard it all before. And just like then, it's STILL time for him to go.

More like a boyfriend who beat you but promises never to do it again...
Kick him to the curb girlfriend! You go girl.
Hopefully she will soon realize she never should have dated the loser in the first place.
Been thinking that was the perfect analogy myself.
The guy who asks you for money for groceries and comes back with a new set of garage sale shiny wheels for his rusted out car.
“Couldn’t resist them, honey. Just like you. What do you mean I’m an asshole? I should kick your ass! Hey, don’t we have any food around here?”
IT WAS THE “BOYFRIEND” SPEECH
...but why is one of his strongest groups,
single women ?
battered wife syndrome.....
Why do you think they are single women...
And his base is the same as the abused girlfriend who takes him back again and again until he finally kills her...
