State of the race: Advantage, Obama (Politico propaganda piece)
politico ^

Posted on 09/08/2012 6:20:33 PM PDT by Perdogg

President Barack Obama heads out of the national political conventions with a much clearer path to winning, top advisers to Mitt Romney privately concede.

The Romney campaign, while pleasantly surprised by Obama’s lackluster prime-time performance, said the post-convention bounce they hoped for fell well short of expectations and privately lament that state-by-state polling numbers — most glaringly in Ohio — are working in the president’s favor.

Excellent post, take a bow! :) Might I add that Mitt indeed wants to WIN. He is a biz man who has prepared his whole life for this race with no interest in the D.C. cocktail party Sunday talk show circuit. As for these polls, we will have two months of these crazy numbers...frankly, I prefer they show Mitt down so we fight harder and stop at nothing to get out the vote.

I agree with you - that Romney will win Virginia - and Allen too. The blue dogs and independents aren’t buying Barry this time and the campaign and party are much better organized than four years ago. Plus most of the elected officials are Republican this time - and more money is being raised by them than Barry.

My fear isn’t that Romney is running a Dole or McCain type campaign. Romney is a much better candidate that either. Dole was reduced to “Where is the outrage” and McCain suspended his campaign. The problem isn’t the GOP e either. It’s 50 years of unrestrained immigration and 50 years on NEA education. The American people are liberals now. If Romney loses I don’t want to hear thoses fools Limbaugh and Hannity tell me this is a center right country and tell me people oppose obamugabe care.

In 1980 America was 85% white. Today it’s 65% white. Romney is getting 60% of the white vote. If the demographics were the same today
as in 1980, Romney would be at 51% (.85x.60) without a SINGLE black or Hispanic vote. There is our problem. Not Romney not the GOP e not the media not being too conservative or not conservative enough. It’s too few whites and a millenial generation raised on Marxism.

Whatever you think about Romney’s politics, you have to admit he ran a shrewd and very aggressive campaign in the primaries. Without question the Romney campaign knows what they’re doing and they’re playing to win.

That DNC was a God-hating, vagina-loving circus with a duplicitous yet effective Clinton speech. I watched 0bama’s speech and it was sub-par for him. Even the leftist media agreed. The DNC changed nothing about the fundamentals of this race.

The economy stinks rotten and that’s the issue that underpins the next 2 months. Sit tight and stop panicking!

Just to be clear, I’m not dismissing polls that say Romney is behind, but that they don’t line up with some of heir own, and other, internal data or other polls. One set or the other is just wrong-—they can’t both be right.

I lived in MA when Romney was Gov. He’s not giving up on anything. These alleged advisors are fictional. Obama will lose.

What else one can expect from Team Romney when it follows Team McCain playbook

I also believe Romney can pull it out.

True. But without OH, it will be next to impossible.

True. But without OH, it will be next to impossible.

The latest Rassmussen poll in Ohio has Romney up by 3...and gaining.

So, why are you concerned for Ohio? Just because Politico (and their anonymous sources) say you should be?

Consider the source...

This is the key part of the story buried in the middle.

“Romney, armed with more dismal jobs numbers, will run a one-size-fits-all campaign, wrapped around the message that the economy is bad, Obama is to blame, and that change of leadership is absolutely essential. The Republican plan rests heavily on Romney’s capacity to bury Obama with negative ads — and reap the benefits of his billionaire backers hitting the president even harder, and more relentlessly. This, more than anything else, alarms the high command in Chicago.”

The Romney campaign has not even started to run the negative economy ads blaming Obama yet.Let’s face it.In reelection battles with a dismal economy, it is all about the incumbent not the challenger. When Romney wins it will because most folks will not so much have voted for Romney as against the incumbent. That is the purpose of the negative ad campaign. How many of you have seen concentrated negative ads on the economy in your areas. Very few because Romney does not want to play his strong suit until
the later stages of the campaign where he wants it to be concentrated in the end game leaving the incumbent little time to rebut it.

...the post-convention bounce they hoped for fell well short of expectations and privately lament that state-by-state polling numbers — most glaringly in Ohio — are working in the president’s favor...they predicted an eleven point bounce for Romney - absurd because it was entirely unrealistic and raised expectations too high - they sound like a bunch of amateurs......

Keep in mind that most of Team Romney are very same losers who comprised McCain’s campaign staff and spent their time stabbing Palin in the back to clear the way for the Mittster. Now that they got what they wanted, they can’t let old habits die.

This campaign is a whole different thing from four years ago.

Not really. If anything, it's even more milquetoast than before.

Thanks, Miss Didi! I have been a “Freeper” since 2006, but I was a "lurker" long before that. Your post is the nicest response that I have ever had to one of my infrequent comments! I could not survive without this forum, but I get so frustrated with two types of posters - the "gloom and doomers" who think Mitt (who was not my first choice either) is no better than McCain and does not want to win and those who think Mitt is no better than Obama and are willing to sit by and risk another four years of this insanity!
