In his new book, The Price of Politics, Bob Woodward writes that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sometimes hit the mute button when President Barack Obama would start giving uplifting speeches during conference calls. Pelosi denied the claim, saying that, during those calls, she always cleared the room, listened and took notes.
Woodward said that during Obamas impromptu speeches, Pelosi put Obama on mute so that she and [Harry] Reid could work without Obama knowing they had stopped listening.

Uh, putting the phone on mute does not keep one from listening. I do it all the time in business telecons. It is really a common practice and almost always a necessary one when there’s a group in a room during a Telecom. You just unmute it when you want to provide input. Muting it keeps extraneous noises from overriding the speaker’s voice. Papers shuffling, keyboard noises, coughs, sneezes, farts, commentary-—all can interrupt the speaker and prevent others on the Telecom in other locations from hearing the speaker
Nancy displayed her ignorance in her very defensive response.

Remeber the ad where during a conference call a participant presses mute and makes jokes about his boss who is speaking until maintenance comes in to fix the faulty mute button.
Maybe she just turned the sound down real low.
Of course pelousi would deny...it’s in the liberal’s DNA to lie, lie, lie. Just like the washerwoman shultz.
