Attention white Anglo-Saxon Protestants: Your days of running things are over. You have jumped the shark.
But there's no need to feel bad for WASPs.
They've had an amazing run. Every single president in our nation's history, except for John F. Kennedy -- a Catholic -- and Barack Obama, has been a white Protestant. Except for a handful of exceptions, for over 200 years the presidential nominees of both major political parties have been WASPs. WASPs had almost as many victories in a row as The Harlem Globetrotters.
But it's over. Look at this year's presidential tickets: A Mormon, an African-American, and two Catholics. Even some of the keynote speakers at the Democratic and Republican conventions were not WASPs. Times are so bleak for WASPs that there's not a single one on the Supreme Court. Likewise, in Congress, the percentage of Protestants fell from 74 percent in 1961 to a slim majority of 55 percent today. Neither the current Speaker of the House (John Boehner: Catholic) nor the Senate majority leader (Harry Reid: Mormon) is WASP.
I'm sincerely not gloating. And my jibes are in jest. But what I'm happy about is that our two major political parties are increasingly reflecting the new face of America. The demographics of our nation are changing and, by 2042, minorities are expected to become the majority in the U.S.
Objectively, the delegates at this year's Democratic convention were far more diverse. The Republican convention looked more like the early bird dinner crowd at The Cracker Barrel.

Why would someone look at people in such a way: members of this group or that group. It would never occur to me to divide people into categories like this.
Mitt Romney is definitely an Anglo-Saxon (his ancestors hailed from Preston, England) and I’m pretty sure Mormonism is a denomination of Christianity that isn’t Catholic, and therefore protestant.
And whatever you might say of Barak Obama, his father was essentially a sperm donor, and he was brought up by his WASP maternal family..
For our entire history, SCOTUS almost always had at least 7 Protestants, usually more.
CNN crows about these changes, but doesn't seem to make their usual correlation-equals-causation assumptions about how horrible things have become in this nation lately, along with this demographic change in the highest levels of the Fe'ral government.

Um, Mormons are not Christians. They do not believe in Christ as Christians do. Their organization is far more inline with the Muslims than Christians.

The founding fathers were WASPS almost to a man. And the reason they were great men was because they had soaked up the philosophy of freedom inherent in protestant theology and British (esp English) political and constitutional history and practice.
Out of all the other cultures in the history of the world at the time, I would suggest that only the Dutch could have could have come close to contriving a similar system of government.
It is indeed sad therefore, that ‘WASP’ culture and people are so mocked and derided when they have probably made the lion’s share of the contribution towards liberty and common prosperity..

You can call Mormonism anything you like, however, it is not a Christian faith. If you will check out their beliefs they do not believe that Jesus Christ is God. They believe He is the brother of Satan. Therefore, they cannot be a Christian faith. They are a cult. Believing that they, each one of them, can become a god.
When the White people withdraw their support for the government, and their sons no longer send in payments to the IRS because they have no jobs, we’ll see how well the USA gets along. If there is a shred of Scots/Irish blood still flowing in their veins, the Diverse America might be unpleasantly surprised.

Coming from a New England WASP background, I have to say that, unfortunately, most of the WASPs there at least have given up on the “P” part of their acronym, which is to say their Protestant Christian heritage, in favor of the depressingly dominant culture of liberalism. Even if they go to a mainstream Protestant church, those churches have to a large extent since the 60s thrown out traditional Christianity in favor of left wing “social justice” and liberal Democratic talking points. It is truly the sad decline of what was once a great culture that gave so much to this nation at its founding and thereafter.

If the demographics are changing then it's not "our nation", it's somebody else's nation...the nation of the invader. And if "minorities" are the majority, then how can they be a minority?
For the hate soaked Left, there are only two peoples: whites (Evil, bigoted, "overprivileged") and non-whites (Saintly even if mass murderers, downtrodden even if by their own culture and depravity, never responsible for their own failures). Thus the Left understands: when the white majority is outnumbered by a non-white majority - of various races, but most importantly, not white - then America - the racist, Protestant institution - is dead, and its influence and success will be gone.
But that's the goal of "demographic change": the destruction of America.
This guy knows it, and wants to celebrate. But he wants to soften the blow, so that the sleeping giant doesn't wake, so he tries to put a happy face on it: see little WASPs, life will be OK when you are ruled by your enemies....like a guy whose name is Hussein. You'll come to enjoy your servitude, and by the way, serves you right for being mean to all those Africans and Injuns. So just get used to it, you can do nothing.

Most non white people may have an unconscious inferiority-superiority dichotomy complex towards caucasians. A built in defensive mechanism.
If you listen to the Neo Yankees on Free Republic no white poeple built or worked in the ante bellum south. Blacks did all the work, built every house, road, picked all crops etc. White people just layed around drinking mint julips and did nothing except operate a whip every now and then.
It's the only way liberals can look at people. It is also why they accuse others of being racist and bigoted.
Their little minds cannot grasp the reality that people of the same skin color or religion can have different values, or that people of different skin color or religions can have shared values.
The liberal view is that racial diversity must be forced by government, rather than achieved by merit and qualifications.

I doubt they are gloating because Catholics, often almost identical to Protestants in their manners and morals, are having more success these days.
Likewise, Hispanics have a lot more in common with whites than blacks. While now, 70% or so vote Democrat, that affiliation will likely drop like a rock after a generation or two of integration, just like with other immigrants.
And Mormons are somehow different from Protestants in ways other than doctrinally? Oh, yeah, there’s been a lot of pitched battles between Mormons and protestants in the last 100 years.
