DETROIT -
Detroit police said a store owner on Detroit's west side shot three men who were allegedly breaking into his business early Friday morning, killing one of them.
Police said the 51-year-old owner heard the men breaking into his liquor store on Joy Road near Ohio just after 3 a.m.
He opened fire on them, killing a man in his 20s.
The other two were critically wounded and are hospitalized, police said.

This guy didn’t take hostages. Usually when someone gets some lead, the others manage to scram in time. Not here, not this time. The healthiest of the the three is now in Critical, which means that this shop owner meant business.
I think a gift card for a good cleaning would be a nice touch.

Btw, the store owner sounds like a cool dude. The article says he sometimes gives out free food. Terrible though, he could have lost some alcohol.
Job hazard: You loot some, You steal some and sometimes you get shot dead.
The video looks like the owner is Muslim from Pakistan or Arabia. The robbers could be Amish or Mennonite most likely
A few years ago a local car stereo shop owner was severely beaten and had his leg broken by 3 thugs. When they tried again a few weeks later the shop owner opened up with a shotgun. He killed one of them and put another in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
A significant number of shopkeepers in Detroit are Chaldean.
Another feel good story.
I think this is more how it was 20 years ago. Their children are not going into such a dangerous business. I read "Devils Night" many years ago which had some humorous passages about the Chaldean shopkeepers. Such as taking a thief into the basement, handcuffing him to a steel support pole, then wacking at him for a few days
This man was prepared, I’m sure he had rehearsed in his mind this exact scenario as well as many others, so as not to be taken by surprise.

The guy is Chaldean, they're the only people with guts enough to own party stores in Detroit. And for what it's worth, they own most of the party stores and gas stations in the communities outside of Detroit too. They work hard and usually employ all their family members too.
I've been getting my gasoline from the same Chaldean owned BP station by my house for the past 11 years. I know the owner, his wife and all the kids and they would do anything for me. Whenever I enter the store it's alwas "Hi Mr. Don, how are you doing".....They're a great family and almost every weekend they're letting some school or church kids conduct a car wash on the lot.
What pray tell is a Chaldean?

As explained to me by a softball teammate here in suburban Detroit who is a Chaldean, they are Baghdad Christians........They are NOT muslims and if you were to ever insult a Chaldean by calling him a muslim he would likely kick your butt. While some segments of our society tolerate some muslims, the Chaldeans have nothing but hatred for them.......and rightfully so.
Chaldeans will usually have Christian iconography in their stores, too. My pharmacist had a crucifix and a picture of the Madonna and Child behind his counter.
Quibble: It’s an okay news story — it would a good news story if one had been wounded and two killed, and a great news story if, well, you get the idea. ;’)
I saw a mention of 3 robbers killed and another wounded in Detroit on the local news earlier tonight but I wasn’t watching and didn’t catch the details.
This is why one needs normal capacity magazines.

If this were to happen often enough crime would go down......even in Chicago.
