Hackers Steal Romney's Tax Returns?
Technorati ^ | September 7, 2012 | Craig Blaha

An anonymous hacking group claims to have stolen Mitt Romney's tax returns from financial services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). PWC denies that there has been any unauthorized access to Mitt Romney or wife Ann's tax information and that any of their systems have been breached.

The hacking group sent thumb drives that supposedly contained copies of the returns to the Democratic and Republican county offices in Nashville Tennessee, as well as PWC. The Nashville city paper was among the first to report on the hacking incident.

The group announced their demands on Pastebin, a tool that is used by coders to share code, and has been used by hacking groups in the past to announce hacking "projects." The group demanded one million dollars in Bitcoins, a digital currency that has little government oversight and allows for some level of anonymity.

Both PWC and the Republican county office say they are working with the Secret Service to discover who is behind the extortion attempt. The Secret Service has not commented on whether the tax return documents are legitimate. PWC did prepare Romney's taxes in 2010, but there is no indication of whether they had prepared previous years returns, or whether those returns would be vulnerable to a remote computer attack.

Romney has released his 2010 and 2011 tax returns. It is possible that this is an attempt at what is known as "predictable response" - the attackers are hoping the recipients of the thumb drive will plug the drive into their computer to see if the files are legitimate. A trojan is then downloaded, giving the attackers full access to the recipients hard drive. Both the Republican and Democratic county offices claim they did not open the files.

Your indignation seems to be not about religious attacks but about religious attacks on Mormons. Harry Reed gets 89% of the Mormon vote. What does their political views have to do with objecting to snide remarks.

brightright~ “Your indignation seems to be not about religious attacks but about religious attacks on Mormons. Harry Reed gets 89% of the Mormon vote. What does their political views have to do with objecting to snide remarks.”

It tells me that his constituants value the post of “Speaker of the Senate” and his ability to bring home the bacon (pork barrell), more than his inane comments.
His power base is rooted in bringing in the (Federal) money to his home state.

If you look at all of Zero’s former political campaigns, you will see that he was successful only on finding dirt on the oppostion candidate through muckraking and going through previous divorce decrees.

Zero has never won a campaign based upon his own ability , only won through obfiscation and personal attacks on his opponent .
This upcomming election is no different !

Do you realize that the only thing we know about Zero , for sure , is his tax report ?

When you’ve got nothing on the opposition , you have to ‘invent it’ !

Harry Reed is a liberal. Harry reed receives 89% of the Mormon vote. Regardless of the reasons they vote for him it certainly does not show their conservatism. And whether they are or not should not have anything to do with defending them.

"Yet in four years no good hacker has been able to hack obammy’s school records..."

My guess is, that given the criminality of "hacking", even if it is whitewashed with the aura of "intellectual exercise", most hackers & "leakers" tend to be "social liberals" (e.g. Julian Assange & Pvt. Manning) and Obama is their hero. Either that or they are teeny-boppers on the order of rich kid shoplifters and those who "key" nice cars while walking through the parking lot.

Probably not your usual "Freeper" type.

"Good Hacker" is an oxymoron.

Actually, with rare exceptions, I don’t like to see religious attacks against any religion. It just so happens that the Morman religion was the recipient of the instant “snide comment” in comment 1 above.

Now if there is a “religion” whose tenets are to wage war on myself, my family, my faith, my civilization and my Republic I have no problems against any attacks against that “religion”. So feel free to fire away against Islam. You’ll have no opposition from me and I might instead add some reasonably informed comments/support to the attack.
