"I think this Democratic Convention was really over the top in terms of abortion. Every single speaker talked about abortion. And you know at some point you start to alienate people."

So astonishingly said ABC's Cokie Roberts on Sunday's This Week (video follows with transcript and commentary):

How can exercising a right alienate people?

Answer: It isn’t a right

God will judge this country for its slaughter of the innocents. It has already begun with Obama. I’m afraid it’s about to get much, much worse. PRAY for God’s mercy on our country.

It’s all the dems have - fear that people will take away their partial birth abortion “rights”

Polls would suggest the pro-death tone was just right.

It was basically a four day Abortionpalooza.

The Democrat party is dead and God help those who support what has taken its place. My MIL used to be a Democrat and was talking about how it was before, how the parties were civil to each other and there was respect when discussing politics. She is just aghast at the extremists who have totally hijacked the party. But she does understand, that while not all are to be painted with the same paintbrush, staying silent makes them just as guilty.

She’s from a very prominent Catholic family.

Here is the link to her wikipage, which I did not read in its entirety.

SOME people on the Dem side must realize that “let’s kill babies” is not the way to go.

No, Cokie. It’s not “over the top”. It’s WHO YOU ARE; who the DEMOCRAT PARTY has become. Now, after all these years of almost total control; you are just MORE WHO YOU ARE!! - And yes, I am ALIENATED!

Going with the FDR theme, they promised an abortion in every pot.

It seems to have alienated no one. If you can believe the polls (I don't, by the way) that horrible week long infomercial caused Obama's favorability to soar.

I think they should push abortion any way and every way they can from now 'til the election.

Adding counseling and prayer to the practice is no improvement.

The RTL side is unrepresented at the top in the two major parties.

While abortion is absolutely first on the list of outrages, the second on the list is godless government schooling.

Why on earth would any thinking Christian and/or conservative send their children into godless schools? Just to cooperate in the godless classroom the child must learn to think and reason godlessly.

Geeze! Millions can turn out to stand in line for a chicken sandwich and they can't figure out a peaceful and legal way to shut down abortion?

Harvard has a 34 Billion dollar endowment with universities across the nation having similar endowments, and Conservatives and Christians can't figure out a way to shut down government schooling and find a way to give every child in the nation a PRIVATE voucher to a Judeo/Christian and conservative PRIVATE education?

For these two reasons above I don't see any reason why God should save our nation.

Henry IV, 16th Century France ~ he was also the guy who said "Paris is worth a mass" ~ when he converted from being the leading Protestant to becoming the next Catholic king of France.

After about 50 years of intense study in the history of the time I finally found half the ancestors fleeing Brittany to Sweden, and the other half fleeing Brittany to Spain, both for the same reason!

Although Protestant they'd bet on the wrong guy.

Plus they had cousins abroad.

Folks who think times are tough now would be aghast at the 1500s ~

These are the “Abortionpalooza” people who are TEACHING OUR NATION”S CHILDREN!!!! I wonder if they serve cookies and milk with that?

( Yes, I am shouting.)

These people also wildly cheered Bill Clinton the rapist.
