The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows President Obama attracting support from 50% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 45% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided.

PPP had exactly the same poll results yesterday.

Something is rotten in Denmark.
Daily tracking poll taken over the weekend right after the DNC convention. Enough said.
Plus weekend polls are the least accurate.
RE: There was a disturbing story about how Zero has 30% of the vote locked up, Blacks and Hispanics
Looks like Obama’s advisers know something that many people don’t when they advised him to approve his own version of the DREAM ACT...
Maybe it will change, it’s a bump, etc.
But with a terrible economy and following a leftist convention booing God and pushing biofuels ...
I guess I really live in a country stupid enough for most people to want to reelect a truly lousy president.
Obamacare, kiss the Supreme Court goodby, partial birth abortion, soialism, racism, disarmament.
Yeehah! Let’s trash this country.
Wow. And Rasmussen is the most accurate of all. That is scary. Romney was a crappy pick and I knew it all along. Stupid Republican Party!!!! We could and should have had Santorum. I knew it!
“Obamacare, kiss the Supreme Court goodby, partial birth abortion, soialism, racism, disarmament”
And don’t forget DOMA overuled and queer “marriage” the norm of the land.
If people choose for four more years of THIS, it falls back to the question of the tipping point. We cannot recover if we have four more years of massive government buildup. It will be irreversible.
Reelecting Obama would be a sea change of the voting mindset of the past three years. We have had virtually every thing go our way. We have had public opinion on our side on most every issue. We have won elections in the hundreds that ‘couldn’t be won’ by focusing on a government on the wrong track. Most of those elections were won running against Obama and his agenda. It would be remarkable to see the poster boy for these unpopular ideas to get another term.
If Obama wins this thing we need to completely clean house in the Republican Establishment - once again a squishy centrist country club Republican will be shown to be the wrong type to go against a Chicago gangster. Ryan on top would have been better, West vs Obama? A first round knockout for West, just like Tyson over Spinks.
That means you Rove and you Coulter and you Boehner, etc.
Time to channel Bluto . . .
I thought we had one or two election cycles at the most to save the country, but it may very well be the case we have passed the ‘point of no return.’ The media just has too much sway over people’s thinking. They can paint the picture they want, and the sheeple will accept it.
Planet of the Apes, folks. We are living on Planet of the Apes.
Rick perry was a far better choice, shame he was mercilessly attacked by his fellow conservatives.
Let’s hope not. I felt like we still had time...beginning to wonder. Hopefully, the SuperPACs and R/R both will remind people of the situation. We are debating non-issues right now, just as the left wanted. Distractions and fluff while ignoring any actual issues.
Rick Perry would have been better than Romney. However, a lot of the attacks were due to himself. Conservatives were only discussing what he messed up on. But in the end Rick Perry would have been better than Romney for sure.
Exactly! It's a convention bounce...next week we'll realize it's a dead cat bounce. Unless Mitt keeps backsliding on repealing obamacare!
!
I awoke this morning to the news that Obama had won re-election. I just hope all you die hard’s who refused to vote for Romney or stayed home are happy with your choice as President..I president who will continue to welcome illegals, pack the Supreme Court with fat,gay women, press ahead destroying our health care system, increase welfare roles, over tax our great corporations and bankrupt the people as well as the govt. But I am disappointed.
Ive been feeling this is our last chance. If obama gets 4 more years there will be millions more on the govt payroll. These are Dem voters by a large %. I dont see how we win another major election if that happens. The dems will have 50% locked up and then some. Scary times we live in. Im not giving up on this election though. Give a few days and i expect to see this back to close to even and then hope r/r can come to play hard in the debates!
ONCE AGAIN and yes I know I’m being cynical; the mob has sent Bruno to deliver their messenger thus these pro obozo poles are just part of the propaganda in order to support the fixed outcome of this sham election. Obozo quote on open microphone to the Russian rep: tell Vladimir I will be more flexible after MY election.
!
If Romney doesn’t start SCORCHING the earth OBAMA stands on he deserves to lose. He needs to go negative fast. Obama has FAILED. He is not up to the job. Show the leftist extremism of the DNC. Is that what you want America? Get mean and don’t let up.
Rick Perry one single mistake of free schooling for illegals was setup upon by freepers. Never understood why conservatives eat their own during primaries and then complain the final nominee is not conservative enough.
There is a 4-5 point rally to the flag effect during the anniversary of 09-11. Like it or not the fact O was in charge when the Seals got Bin Laden is going to help him in the polls for the next week or so.
So all the Dembot "hate Romney always" Freepers and the die hard "we should of nominated candidate x" complainers might want to hold off popping the corks out of the champagne bottles just yet.
Look at all the pings I sent you yesterday.
And the last time I checked, the Bible doesn’t include a “Book of Scott Rasmussen”.
Relax.
no need to panic. I can’t believe the amount of people on this site throwing in the towel at the slightest hint of a bad poll. The communist can and will be beaten in November.
Remind me never to get into a foxhole with freepers.
WILL EVERYONE JUST RELAX, DAMMIT? Dukakis was up 16 on this very day in 1998. How did that turn out? It is NOT over. It is normal for a candidate to get a boost out of his convention, and Democrats on average get a much larger bump historically.
What makes you think that the GOP-E did not WANT to lose?
Not so much the numbers, more disappointment with how Mitt is campaigning so far.
Well said!!!
People love confidence. People loved Reagan's optimism. We're exhausted from Obama's leftwing social experiments... we want to see somebody step up to the plate who believes in himself.
There is the problem
One thing I don’t see reported much is that Obama has 100% of the “freeloader” vote.
"One thing I dont see reported much is that Obama has 100% of the freeloader vote."
We are either at the "tipping point", or we are not. I don't believe we are- I don't believe in two short years we somehow morphed from a nation that elected the Tea Party in a landslide to a freeloader society.
I'm not saying it's easy- especially with a class warfare specialist like Obama. But Obama is demolishing jobs through over-regulation and horrible policies at a record pace- most people out there want Romney to show that he's the guy that's going to turn things around (and I don't know if they real "feel" that way yet).
Relax folks, this is a 2 fold thing..
1) weekend polling which ALWAYS bounces him up a few points, and 2) Clinton Nastalgia...
I told you Obama will likely get a bump after the Clinton speech at the convention, and this is nothign but Clinton Nastalgia, nothing more, it will fade quickly.
Agreed.. I totally expected the polls to go this way after the DNC convention, with the media blowing Bill Clinton..Plus its a weekend poll which always favors the dem....Also, most people still have NOT seen the footage of the delegates booing God.
However , I do think regardless of the outcome, the country is close to being lost..When you can have a President with NO record, and such a clear radical leftist background, STILL be tied or in the lead, it tells you we have reached the tipping point.. A Romney win would just at least stave it off for 4yrs..
PSALM 37
12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.
14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.
16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the LORD upholds the righteous.
Amen ...
The main event is just starting.
Santorum would be doing much worse, IMHO.
You know I really dislike Mike Tyson. Not just for being a idiot and a thug and beating on woman, and being a convicted rapist, but he was a thug boxer too. A first round knock out specialist, whose most famous punch was biting off his opponents ear. Gag!
He met his match with Lennox Lewis, the defending heavyweight champion and a real gentleman met him in the ring to defend his title. Lewis, not one to boast, said in the pre-fight that he hoped to help Tyson retire by beating him, and thus improve the boxing game.
On January 22, 2002, a brawl involving the two boxers and their entourages occurred at a press conference held in New York to publicise the bout.Tyson went on stage at the Hudson Theatre and stared in the direction of where Lewis was to appear. As soon as Lewis appeared, Tyson quickly walked toward him and appeared to be about to assault Lewis. One of Lewis bodyguards attempted to block Tyson's access to Lewis before Tyson threw a left hook in the bodyguard's direction. The two boxers rolled on the floor with personnel from both camps getting involved.
During the melee WBC president José Sulaimán claimed to be knocked out when he hit his head on the table. He later filed a US$56 million lawsuit against Lewis and Tyson for injuries caused in the scuffle. Sulaiman claims he was spat on and Tyson threatened to kill him, when he got up after being knocked out.[6]
Tyson later admitted to biting Lewis' leg and had to pay him US$335,000.
Following the brawl Tyson came to the edge of the podium, and issued a several minute-long profanity-laden tirade towards freelance journalist Mark Malinowski, who suggested that Tyson should be put in a straitjacket. Tyson punctuated his oration by vowing to introduce Malinowski to the concept of prison romance.[7][8][9]
The brawl at the press conference for this fight was named The Ring magazine Event of the Year for 2002.
All of which made this one of my favorite rounds of boxing ever! Lewis' 8th Round KO of Mike Tyson It's nice to see Mike with both eyes cut, his nose bleeding, flat on his back, wondering WTF just happened ... if there is a Tyson of politics, it's now West, who is an officer and a gentleman.
Despite hating Mike I will admit he was a great boxer in his prime. I've even seen him rated #1 of all time in some lists, so I can't take that from him. But, especially in sports, character counts. So I would never rate him that high.
Please excuse typo.
That’s the problem. None of the people who ran in the primaries are the best and brightest the Republicans have to offer. Romney is probably the most electable to the general populace, but even that is debatable.
“He needs to go negative fast.”
YES. So much material for Romney - he needs to begin using it now! He must not let Obama gain momentum and dispirit the Republican base so early.
Debt bomb
Quadrupled deficit - now >100% of GDP
>8% unemployment for 4 years - a post WW2 record
Drop in global competitiveness from #1 to #7
AAA downgrade first time in history
The Romney ads released last weak are lame and a complete waste of money. Romney needs to get aggressive like he did with Gingrich and Santorum and do it NOW!
I agree. Better to spend time prepping than blogging at this point. The inevitable can only be delayed so long. Romney is a better man than Obama but he doesn't have the fortitude to actually fix our problems.
I have recently reluctantly steeled myself to the idea of a second Obama term. The one upside is that I'm convinced Obama will be at the helm when the good ship USA hits the iceberg and is mortally wounded. It will be nice to see that pinned on his dumb butt.
Santorum would be doing much worse, IMHO.
I don’t know. We would definitely be getting Ohio and most mid-west states and then add the South and I think we would win. Perhaps not a landslide but enough to win. The problem with Romney is he does not relate to regular people. Santorum would definitely relate to the regular joe.
“if people choose for four more years of THIS, it falls back to the question of the tipping point. We cannot recover if we have four more years of massive government buildup. It will be irreversible.”
Hey... the voters keep doing it in California with full knowledge that their system is headed over a cliff. Maybe we’ve reached a tipping point where the whole country is ready to follow suit.
Santorum has no discipline he is like goofy Labrador puppy that would lunge for any treat the MSM dangled in front of him.
By now he’d be neck deep trying to define his position on porn, chastity and contraception.
I certainly haven't given up. I'm just PO'd at Romney, and Republicans in general yet again. I'm so tired of the GOP snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Our country, way of life and FREEDOM are at stake here... this truly IS the most important election in my lifetime.
Scott Rasmussen IS a conservative, or he's at least a Republican. Saw him at CPAC in February.
His is one of the few polling firms that polls "likely voters" and I believe (I admit I'm not sure) he polls Republicans and 'RATs 50/50.
I was polled by Rasmussen via phone about 4-5 years ago. It was an automated poll - VERY efficient, and well done. I answered truthfully, and - as there was no human on the other end - I felt no "guilt" as I've heard some people do when preferring one candidate over another.
