"What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches?”

Send them back to their home countries where they won't be offended by Americans.

Actually, he probably was eating nasi goreng,gado-gado,sate and soto. This reference to peanut butter and jelly was designed to make people think of him as American and forget the fact that he was raised in Indonesia.

“What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches?” says Gutierrez, principal at Harvey Scott K-8 School, a diverse school of 500 students in Northeast Portland’s Cully neighborhood.

Of course, that statement is itself racist.

Somebody should tell the fruitcake that Americans eat whatever they darn well please.

I eat bread, tortas, pitas, Mexican food, Tex-Mex, Indian, Thai, and who knows what else.

If I was racist I'd only eat Gringo Food - Oh, wait did I just use the word Gringo?

My lunch was a PB&J on wheat bread and I drank chocolate milk with it. I’m so confused now.

Well, the only answer to this Racistamerica problem is to end public schools and give the anti-sandwich tribe private school vouchers.

I’m picking up that Verenice is a jackass.

Wow.

How hard must it be for people to walk around perpetually looking for things to be offended by? What miserable people they must be.

As for the commentary regarding "how does a Somali relate to a PB&J"..... if they're here in America, they must want to enjoy America, all of her people, and all of her customs. If they don't know the customs, they can learn. If they don't like the customs, they can leave.

The article states that most, if not all of the administrators of the district have gone through a professional development program entitled Coaching for Educational Equality. Among the goals of this program are to "grow a deeper awareness of institutional racism and its effect on learning" and "to interrupt inequity and oppression in your school."

It appears as though Verenice baby has had her fair share of PB&J sandwiches.
