Posted on 09/10/2012 12:24:09 PM PDT by TheBattman
According to many customers, sites hosted by major web host and domain registrar GoDaddy are down. According to the official GoDaddy Twitter account the company is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Update: customers are complaining that GoDaddy hosted e-mail accounts are down as well, along with GoDaddy phone service and all sites using GoDaddys DNS service.
Update 2: Anonymous is claiming responsibility. A member of Anonymous known as AnonymousOwn3r is claiming responsibility, and makes it clear this is not an Anonymous collective action.
The service Down For Everyone Or Just Me says the GoDaddy company website is down as well, but Ive been able to access it just fine. However, it does indeed appear that sites hosted by GoDaddy are down including those who only have their domains registered through GoDaddy but use other hosts.
Trouble turn two, Patrick in the wall
Funny, my site is down but email appears to be working okay....
Yep, our business, hosted by GoDaddy is shut down.
Our customer service phones where I work are getting calls from all over telling us our web sites are down.
In 16 years on the Internet, our site was down for a total of 3 minutes - 1 minute when the fiber line in Boston was cut, 1 minute when they re-located the server farm 400 miles away and did the final switchover, and 1 minute during the great East Coast blackout where one of the colocation centers where uninterruptable power was interrupted...
I love pair.com.
Sam Hornish’s fault!
Two entirely different servers.
I am with GoDaddy and am still up, but cannot access my email. Bleh.
Anonymous is an Obama/Islamist collaboration. Just as the occupy movement.
My site is down, as is the email I get through that site, and so it the site of the company that created and maintains my site.
godaddy.com is down.
I just tested the email server, it appears to be down too.
Is the “Anonymous” group loyal to Obama?
a Mashable thread..
GoDaddy’s DNS Servers Go Down, Taking Thousands of Sites With It (Oh da Hughmanatee of it all!)
I’m back up
Yeah, it's a big f'n "hugemanatee" all right.
You know how many people are losing a lot of money right now because of this?
My two sites are affected. One down, one corrupted.
Anonymous isn’t a formal organization, it may have American members/participants but they could just as easily be anywhere else in the world and likely are.
They are pretty close to being, if not completely being, anarchists. They were big OWS supporters and agitators.
I don’t view them as loyal to a person, party or platform so much as they are like any other anarchy supporter or free market destroyer. They are only concerned about their publicity and attention.
If this attack is truly only from one person it is some guy sitting in a hotel room somewhere in Asia with a belt around his neck engaged in auto-asphyxiation, masturbating while wearing a cheerleaders outfit while reading stories about his attack.
Our commercial and non-profit sites are down, but our clinical patient portal is still up. Email is very slow.
Same here; website up, email nada
Is it just a coincidence that two out of two candidate sites where I tried to make donations today were “server not found”?
I believe we can count on more of this until election day.
I’m with WhosYourDaddy.com and it seems I still am.
I wonder if these are the same hackers that attacked Nachumlist before.
Yeah it’s just a coincidence.
I’m sure this is affecting candidates across the board if it’s a DNS attack aimed at a web hosting company.
Most campaigns are likely not tech savvy enough to know about or care about uptime availability or have back up web hosting. I would be amongst the first to declare this conspiratorial but it’s just a godaddy.com thing.
This is nothing more than aiming a shotgun at a big publicly known company that does what they do and pulling the trigger regardless of which web sites come down.
I am unable to retrieve my GD hosted email.
They weren’t fans of their superbowl ads?
sorry for being too flippant about the scenario,, I hear ya on the economic impact, Sounds like thousands of sites affected, I bet they double triple check their procedures for maintaining network integrity in more after this .. when DNS crashes, Life is bad .
I used to do ‘mission critical’ support for callcenters .. when the calls don’t flow.. series kaching damage happens..
