Rush Limbaugh: "An All-Out Media Onslaught to Dispirit You" [ref. polling data]

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: My question is, why is Obama still campaigning? Could somebody explain that to me. Everywhere I look, this election's over. Why, Obama has hit 50% approval in the polls now for the first time ever. The bounce out of that disaster of a convention was unprecedented, other than Dukakis who had a 17-point lead after his, and somehow he lost. Brit Hume said today on Fox, "Well, you know, you gotta keep in mind the guy leading in the polls in mid-September rarely loses." Ever heard of Dukakis? Ever heard of Jimmy Carter? And now Public Policy Polling has a poll out saying Obama's at 50% in Ohio. They're closing the gap. They're gonna win Ohio now. Except Obama might lose New Mexico. New Mexico is still in play. They're not telling you that. But why's Obama still raising money? Why is he still campaigning, if this is over?

Folks, this is so predictable. The campaign to depress you and to dispirit you is underway, and it's at full bore. It's going 150%. These people have a disaster of a convention they're trying to turn into the greatest convention ever. Obama is pitied. I can't tell you all the theories. I've got people depressed 'cause they think the new iPhone isn't gonna have anything in it. I'm surrounded by it. And I'm here to tell you, it is September the 10th. There's two months to go. There's no way this is over. There is no way.

I couldn't agree more. Media working overtime to try and depress conservative/GOP turnout, because they know how bad the numbers really look for Obama.

Rush sure ought to know about dispiriting voters after his participating in bloody Thursday in Florida against Newt.

Rush can sleep with Elton Jon for the rest of his natural life for all I care.

Subtitle should be “It’s all THEY’VE got!”

Not about Newt or anything other than winning more votes than Obama from now til November.

It was kind of glaring that Rush ignored Rasmussen.

Any lead that popped up for Obama can be undone. Just need to blame things on Obama a little more aggressively, and be a little more direct with an alternate plan.

Media’s doing it more to buck up the Dems than to discourage Republicans.

Dem lack of enthusiasm is and has been hurting Obama, and it will again no matter what the media does.

He’s such a nothing. This is just a “Clinton Bounce”.

Except el Rushbo Dukakis wasn’t up over Bush in September 1988. Dukakis 17 point lead was in July after the dem convention but before the GOP convention. By sep 1988, GHW Bush was leading.

One thing is certain... even when we discount the Democrat oversampling in polls like this one, we cannot ignore the more trusted pollsters like Rasmussen (which polls likely voters ). I can’t believe that even Rasmussen is part of the MSM trying to dispirit Republicans.

It REALLY looks like Obama is leading in the polls at this point in time. We have to be realistic. It is what it is.

The main question is not whether or not the economy is bad. The economy IS bad and people know it.

However the huge factor is HOW DEPENDENT ARE AMERICANS BECOMING ON GOVERNMENT?

If the answer to the above question is this — VERY. Then yes, Obama might even win and we have to sadly conclude that we have crossed the tipping point in this country.

I have a very sick feeling that this might be the case (God forbid ). Consider these factors:

1) Nearly HALF of Americans pay no taxes ( 47% last I read ).

2) 1 in 3 Americans are in some sort of government welfare program.

3) 45 Million people on food stamps. Up by over 15 million compared to 4 years ago.

4) Obama promising to “help” those underwater in their mortgages and college students and grads who cannot pay back their college loans.

5) Auto workers in swing states like Michigan and Ohio being brainwashed into believing that it is good to bail out GM because Obama cares and wants to save their jobs.

Those factors CANNOT BE OVERLOOKED.

Once a significant number of our populace suck on the government’s teat.... it becomes like a drug which is very difficult to withdraw from and they will vote accordingly.

The billionaire guy who buys commercial time on TV said that Clinton gave Obama reelection. He said close the door; it’s over so that was not good for the Romney supporters to hear. Hell has been upon us since Bloody Thursday/ now, we are trying to survive with this situation and it’s difficult.

” The campaign to depress you and to dispirit you is underway...”

That’s not the only thing underway. The poll numbers also energize the Dem base; and create a bandwagon effect to attract undecideds. If the poll results were going the other way, we wouldn’t be hearing much about them in the MSM.

The Dukakis/Carter Polls are useless and have no bearing today since that time we’ve had a massive change in demographics- more of the tribal vote (Black, Hispanic, and Florida Jewish vote), more takers than providers, etc etc., and the rise of LaRaza and SEIU. Me thinks we’re screwed.

You make some great arguments so good in fact that it does not make sense to vote. You have saved us a lot of time and energy.

Sad but rue. It is better to face the realities you point out so we can all be victims. That you for all your intelligent efforts.

RE: Whaddya, some sort of troll???!?

What is this forum all about anyway? Some rah rah site where people can only post what they think others would like to hear?

What rule in FR says that one cannot post what one thinks?

If you disagree with me, by all means tell me why I am wrong. I am all ears... Accusing a long time member and poster of being a troll is uncalled for.

Yes, the Ras poll and other polls show there was a DNC bounce for Obama. But it is also valid that most of the polls have been skewed to favor Obama. There is pollaganda and agenda journalism at play.

All your reasons are great reasons to defeat obama. His re-election will seal in place a dependency state that will bankrupt us. We HAVE to stop it.

We HAVE to make 2012 be another 2010, or even better, show that 2010 was just the warmup. We have to blow the socialists out of the water..

The economy has been stuck in a rut for years now. The same things voters voted on in 2010 apply today. Same failed President, same bad policies out of the Democrats in Washington, same need to reign in spending, get government back under control, repeal Obamacare, and get the economy moving again.

You also have to include the efforts of the DemonRATs to register illegal alien voters. It is one reason they are fighting Voter ID. Getting that ID is one more complicated step. Without Voter ID, even the dead get to vote.

RE: You also have to include the efforts of the DemonRATs to register illegal alien voters.

That would be true only if these illegals are included in the current polls. Not sure if this is true or not. But yes, that would be a factor is a very close election like the one in 2000.

That’s why for Romney/Ryan to win, Obama has to be decisively crushed, not simply squeak by.

Correct! It’s the dem party that is demoralized! They’re sick of defending the indefensable. The obama voters I know are NOT VOTING FOR HIM AGAIN OR THEY ARE NOT VOTING AT ALL.

Take back the senate!
