The owner of a Florida pizza shop says people are boycotting his business because he bear-hugged President Barack Obama on Sunday.
“People are saying a lot of bad things and boycotting my restaurant,” Scott Van Duzer, 46, told POLITICO. “There’s no middle line anymore, and that’s exactly what’s wrong with our country right now.”
The owner of Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce, Fla., said that both Democrats and Republicans are welcome in his store. But he also said he thinks Mitt Romney’s running mate Rep. Paul Ryan — whose sculpted abs are thanks to intense P90X training sessions — would lose to the president in a workout battle.

My Dad, God rest his soul would come and visit me from south Florida and beg me to take him for pizza here. My dad spoke fluid Italian and was 1st gen. American. The owners of Palace are from Naples, Italy and still go back there 2 times a year to see their family.
I would put their pizza up against a slice from Brooklyn!!! Yummy!

FORT PIERCE — A day after President Obama made an unscheduled stop at Big Apple Pizza on Sunday, where shop owner Scott Van Duzer gave the president an enthusiastic bear hug, Van Duzer will be appearing on some of the national TV news shows Monday and Tuesday.
Van Duzer said Anderson Cooper, “Inside Edition,” CNN and “Good Morning America” contacted him later Sunday afternoon and he’s to talk with them Monday and Tuesday.
Van Duzer’s day Monday began early, and by 10:45 a.m., he was live on the air with MSNBC. He will also be on “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” on Monday night, which will be filmed Monday afternoon from Big Apple Pizza in Fort Pierce. He’ll also work in an appearance on “Inside Edition” on Monday.
However, his day won’t be over. He’ll fly to New York on Monday night for engagements Tuesday.
On Tuesday morning, he will be on Anderson Cooper’s day talk show and he will appear on Wolf Blitzer’s “The Situation Room” on CNN on Tuesday night.

I have seen NOBODY advocating the place be shut down, or there be any kind of fine, or any violence toward the company or its employees. People are simply saying they will not patronize the place, and are suggesting others do the same.
I don't think you understand freedom of speech. There is no unlimited freedom of speech as the yelling of "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater would illustrate.
With freedom of speech comes responsibility.
If a clergyman exercises his "freedom of speech" on his pulpit to pump up liberal causes such as abortion on demand, higher taxation and big government, should members of his church be accused of hypocrisy if they decide to go to another parish and deprive him of their monetary and religious support?

Oh, I’m boycotting. I spend plenty of time in central Florida. I’ll never eat at a Big Apple Pizza. And I love pizza.
Democrats for miles around will be coming there for a pizza (once, anyway). That should make up for the fact that no Republicans will come in.
Actually, next time I am in Fort Pierce, I just might go to a rival pizza joint, buy a couple huge pizzas, then go park next to his dump and tell everyone going by about how great the other stuff tastes.

I did a Google search. It’s a local Florida chain with 13 restaurants. He’s near some college. He shouldn’t be hurting too much...
What do you mean by “knowlingly?” Are you practicing a “don’t ask, don’t tell” philosophy? Or are you taking steps to actively learn who each person you do business with supported?
Do you think your employer should have a right to fire you if you voted for a candidate they didn’t like? Would you want them to? (Maybe you would quit your job if you found out a manager or owner voted for Obama — or maybe your limit was where you spend your money, not who you make money for?)
I see how it is easy and trendy to make these claims. Maybe Obama is some special case, and all these “never support a supporter” applies only to this specific person.
But in general, there’s no way America survives if the entire economy is driven by people spending money based on politics. No way that’s what the founders envisioned. Can’t imagine Thomas Jefferson refusing to do business with supporters of his political opponents. And don’t think that in the end, the people posting here claiming this are actually ready to live their lives that way.
