Ok, I can except when people say, “Oh it’s Florida they are all screwed up”. But...listen hear 1st, 2nd or 3rd person, I have one kick butt pizza joint in my Florida town called Palace Pizza. My Dad, God rest his soul would come and visit me from south Florida and beg me to take him for pizza here. My dad spoke fluid Italian and was 1st gen. American. The owners of Palace are from Naples, Italy and still go back there 2 times a year to see their family.
I would put their pizza up against a slice from Brooklyn!!! Yummy!
As for this jerk in Ft. Pierce, he has sealed his fate. Done, close the doors.

I wouldn't let any liberal scum into my store to use me as a prop.

That's YOU and I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate a boycott against you because of your refusal to do so either.........Yea, let's hear it.....blah, blah, blah.

I've got more important things in my life than to worry about whether or not my local pizza shop owner is a democrat or a republican.......

Sheesh, get a life dude!

I posted a negative review on YELP about the restaurant, and about 15-minutes later, this is the e-mail I received:

Hi ----,

We're writing to let you know that we've removed your review of Big Apple Pizza. Though we understand there has been media attention about this business and that users may want to share their opinions, we hope you'll understand that Yelp reviews are not the place for matters outside of your own consumer experience. Our Content Guidelines (http://www.yelp.com/guidelines) make clear that reviews should focus on your own customer experience, and we think this is an important requirement for keeping Yelp a useful site for consumer reviews.

Due to our guidelines, please note that we will not be accepting further postings from you for this listing.

Thanks for your understanding and for keeping our guidelines in mind as you continue to participate on Yelp.

Regards,

Woodrow

I then went back to the site, and of course all of the "Pro" reviews were still there, most of them from people who had never ever been to the restaurant...

Poltico does not even mention the fact that this was a set-up, with Van Duzer having visited the White House back in June. This was NOT spontaneous, but the media know they have a winner.

Anyone still believe it wasn’t a setup?

**********

FORT PIERCE — A day after President Obama made an unscheduled stop at Big Apple Pizza on Sunday, where shop owner Scott Van Duzer gave the president an enthusiastic bear hug, Van Duzer will be appearing on some of the national TV news shows Monday and Tuesday.

Van Duzer said Anderson Cooper, “Inside Edition,” CNN and “Good Morning America” contacted him later Sunday afternoon and he’s to talk with them Monday and Tuesday.

Van Duzer’s day Monday began early, and by 10:45 a.m., he was live on the air with MSNBC. He will also be on “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” on Monday night, which will be filmed Monday afternoon from Big Apple Pizza in Fort Pierce. He’ll also work in an appearance on “Inside Edition” on Monday.

However, his day won’t be over. He’ll fly to New York on Monday night for engagements Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, he will be on Anderson Cooper’s day talk show and he will appear on Wolf Blitzer’s “The Situation Room” on CNN on Tuesday night.

Am not sure how to read this guy - he's even teamed up with Tim Tebow for a blood drive -

Is this Duzer dude sincere with his social work or is it all cover for merely positioning himself into the non-profit government money stream? >

Most people who boycott this or that are hypocrites at best.

Really? So, If I decide not to buy a product from a company because they give millions of dollars to destructive left-wing causes, that makes me a hypocrite?

Can you explain why that would be so? I don't understand how you can make an incendiary blanket statement like that.

I have seen NOBODY advocating the place be shut down, or there be any kind of fine, or any violence toward the company or its employees. People are simply saying they will not patronize the place, and are suggesting others do the same.

I don't think you understand freedom of speech. There is no unlimited freedom of speech as the yelling of "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater would illustrate.

With freedom of speech comes responsibility.

If a clergyman exercises his "freedom of speech" on his pulpit to pump up liberal causes such as abortion on demand, higher taxation and big government, should members of his church be accused of hypocrisy if they decide to go to another parish and deprive him of their monetary and religious support?

Is THAT hypocrisy? Nothing personal, I don't know you well enough to make is so, but that post of yours made me shake my head.

Pizza Owner Scott Van Duzer Who Bear-Hugged Obama Reportedly Visited the White House in June

http://thelasttradition.blogspot.com/2012/09/pizza-owner-scott-van-duzer-who-bear.html

Van Duzer said his team is confirmed to meet with the U.S. Surgeon General on July 11 in Washington D.C. He added the deputy surgeon general will ride the last 50 miles with the team.

“President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, we’re coming to see you,” said Ken Pruitt Unit member Cody Hatt, 14. “First Lady Michelle is big on health and if she sees we’re trying to promote awareness in our generation, she might get involved.”

“People are saying a lot of bad things and boycotting my restaurant”

Classic weasel words. Who is boycotting his resturant? Who is saying bad things? What bad things are they saying? They don't even attempt to offer proof. This is a manufactured controversy, IMHO to establish equivalency with the CFA boycott debacle.

Fun part: We are the ones that work. Can't buy pizza with an EBT card!

Now that Matt Drudge headlined this “Obama” setup scheme, the real truth will emerge. Scott Van Duzer is certainly not-the-sharpest knife in the drawer!!! Once Drudge posted the Chick-fil-a “Democrat” boycott, things in Chick-fil-a’s favor really took off.

All I will say is: Remember the Chick-fil-a incident!!! Reversal is fair game IMHO!!! It’s real simple, folks. This is still a free country. You like the Van Duzer pizza and his Obama politics, you buy the guys pizza. You don’t, do not buy the pizza. Your choice!!! Sir: you staked your business on Obama, you will have to live with the verdict imposed by your customers, be it positive or negative!!!

If it wasn't a set up the SS would have had him on the ground. Only ignorant people would believe the whole thing. They continually “misunderestimate” the intelligence of the most people, surely glad they aren't a part of our military or we'd be doomed...we may be anyway. Obama is gutting the military as fast as he can.

The black Democrat congressman who INTRODUCED Obama at the 2008 convention jumped ship and the media didn’t even bother to carry it on all of the networks GOP convention coverage.

I hadn't heard this. Which black Democrat? I thought Dick Durbin introduced Obama in 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Small business owners have free speech. This guy was filmed hugging Obama. No one stopped him.

And now we’re going to use our free speech not to shop there.

Aren’t you tired of Know-it-all Hollywood types who make millions of dollars go to public events and mocking people like us and what we believe? Our money is the only reason they are rich.

Trust me - if I was working for the know-it-all Hollywood types and said something they didn’t like, they’d fire me.

I’m tired of “Free Speech” always being a one way street with oncoming traffic.

This guy said his piece - now I’m going to say mine.

What do you mean by “knowlingly?” Are you practicing a “don’t ask, don’t tell” philosophy? Or are you taking steps to actively learn who each person you do business with supported?

Do you think your employer should have a right to fire you if you voted for a candidate they didn’t like? Would you want them to? (Maybe you would quit your job if you found out a manager or owner voted for Obama — or maybe your limit was where you spend your money, not who you make money for?)

I see how it is easy and trendy to make these claims. Maybe Obama is some special case, and all these “never support a supporter” applies only to this specific person.

But in general, there’s no way America survives if the entire economy is driven by people spending money based on politics. No way that’s what the founders envisioned. Can’t imagine Thomas Jefferson refusing to do business with supporters of his political opponents. And don’t think that in the end, the people posting here claiming this are actually ready to live their lives that way.
