How Mitt Romney May Lose the Election [News from Virginia]
Tea Party Tribune ^ | September 11, 2012 | Jonathon Moseley

Posted on 09/11/2012 9:47:46 AM PDT by Moseley

On September 4, 2012, Mitt Romney may have lost Virginia and the Presidential election. But Republicans could still win easily.

This election will turn on two questions Bill Clinton is pounding on: Who caused the disastrous economic collapse in 2007 and 2008? Will putting a Republican back in the White House give us another economic crash?

Republican strategists and consultants have been running away from these questions. Bill Clinton passionately blamed Republicans at the Democrat National Convention. Republicans are aiming for “just enough to squeak by.” But “good enough” is almost never good enough.

Now on September 4, Virgil Goode qualified as a candidate in Virginia for President for the Constitution Party. Losing only a few percentage points to Goode could cost Romney Virginia. And Romney is still behind in the crucial State.

Remember: Virginia conservatives were upset that only Mitt Romney and Ron Paul were on the primary ballot. Other candidates certainly bungled their petitions. But Virginia conservatives suspected manipulation.

Is the Constitution Party a threat? It is full of Ron Paul zealots. It has 438,222 registered voters. In 2008, Alan Keyes was ousted by highly-motivated Ron Paul enthusiasts. Chuck Baldwin became the 2008 candidate for President. The Constitution party was originally founded by Howard Phillips as the “US Taxpayers’ Party” in 1991.

Right. Romney was a left leaning guy during Reagan and Bush. He said he was progressive and that he was an independent during the time of Reagan/ Bush. Virgil Goode was a Reagan Democrat.

Mitt Romney left the GOP in 1979 because of Reagan, he has campaigned on not having voted for Reagan, eventually, by the early 1990s all of Romney’s donations and fundraising was for democrat candidates, even if running against incumbent republican, and for Planned Parenthood.

Virginians will have to struggle with figuring out who is more anti-Reagan.

Mitt Romney lose to a man raised on Communist theory????, Who came here on a Foreign Student Visa, whose papers from college are still under lock and key, a man raised by people did & do dislike the United States except for what they could get for free like a good education, a man who took bailout money and paid off his UNION supporters, managed to rack up another 4+ trillion dollar debt while his money managers printed more money helping to devalue the dollar even more, bowed and apologized to foreign heads of state, asked Russia to give him wiggle room until after the election then he will help them....? Barack Obama is not a friend...he is a Communist/Socialist who literally hates Capitalism and wants to Fundamentally Change America to fit the European, United Nations, African etc. version of Socialism, sort of a Third World dictatorship ruled by the half American, half Kenyan Barack Hussein Obama.

Mitt Romney lose to that fraud? Obama's base has no self reliance, they all want hand outs and little work. A culture that is not American....Mitt Romney has worked hard all his life, gives back and is Self-reliant to a fault....Obama is weak, a security threat to all of us.

@DannTN (in #8): I think the tea party has arisen BECAUSE people realize both parties are part of the problem. The American people feel they have to roll up their sleeves, tell the politicians to get out of the way, we’ll have to do it ourselves.

But remember the main point of the article: Romney could afford to lose a few percentage points in Virginia *IF* he were actually addressing the concerns of the American people in a persuasive way. Playing GOP insider business as usual is the reason Romney is just barely squeaking by. And when you aim to just squeak by, you usually end up LOSING completely.

But remember ansel2, it’s VITALLY important that we all rally together and elect Romney, since he’s sooooooo much better than Obama.

I mean, forget about his actual record, and his actual history, and even some of the things he’s said and done within the last week. Just take a look at his campaign website - that’s an ENTIRELY honest and truthful view of what this rock-solid oak of a man has always stood for.

I like the cut of this Romley fellow’s jib!

If there ever really were any middle of the road independents of sensitive sensibilities they would all have by now jumped on Romney's bandwagon and gotten him up to LESS THAN HALF THE VOTE!

Anyone else notice that neither of the two main guys are getting up to 50%? If you get 50%+1 vote you tend to win. If you don't, you lose or something.

I'd be real concerned if I were Romney ~ have some Catholic bishops in for a meeting, maybe a Cardinal, and start trudging in and out of Baptist churches on Sundays, SDA on Saturday, and even maybe some of those Oklahoma COFB's on Wednesday evening for some prayer sessions for the sick and dying (who really will die if prayer doesn't work right away 'cause those ol'boys won't take you to a doctor).

Romney has forgotten what Henry IV of France said when he was still the leader of the Protestant faction, "Paris is worth a mass" and he went and got baptised as a Catholic (again) and became King of France. Let me tell you, I'd be looking around right now for some group that does a three times forward and onct' back routine just for a margin of safety and go after that SOCON vote!

Every time, they draw the same erroneous conclusions, and then they lose. It's almost like they want to lose or something.

Followers chasing after the crowd always lose. The GOP hasn't been leading since Reagan left office.

YOE: If we can just get the dimwit GOP strategists out of the way and talk straight to the AMerican people, Romney should win in a landslide. But the GOP insiders specialize in doing all the wrong things in campaigns. They imagine themselves to be really clever... which is the problem.

So I send a page and half of text to you and you read, think about it and respond in lest then 60 seconds?

Rather then assume you are the infallible mouth of God on earth, and responding with your per-programed opinions take the time to actually think about the point being made to you

Your knee jerk responds are made in a spirit of arrogance and pride. You are not acting in God’s spirit.

Who really is to blame for the 2008 financial crisis?

Democrat Nancy Pelosi was running the House, Democrat Harry Reid was running the Senate in 2007 and 2008. Obama actually sued banks in Chicago back in the 1990s to make them lend money to deadbeats, and that with CRA led to bogus no-doc loans by 2006 that with the subprime loans were ripe for collapse when housing price bubble popped.

But somehow although the Democrats ran the most powerful branch of Government when the crisis hit, and despite all the actinons Democrats took that led to the housing bubble and the subsequent crash, they are not at all responsible, it’s all just Bush’s fault.

Never mind that when gas hit its highs in 2008, the Republicans were calling for action, and Nancy Pelosi refused to do anything.

Republicans begged for a plan to cut oil prices by ‘drill here, drill now’ but Pelosi did NOTHING. the Democrats who ran Congress - led by Democrat nancy Pelosi and Democrat Harry Reid - did NOTHING because they wanted to crash the economy to get Obama elected. The Democrats’ evil plot worked. And we got the worst President in our lifetimes.

Never mind that Obama voted for all the TARP, bailouts and all the actions the Democrats pin on Bush.

Democrats played a big role in making the crisis happen. It wasnt just Bush alone. And now Democrats ran Washington and have run the White House for 4 years while our economy has remained in this rut. Democrats destroyed the economy, kept it in this rut, and have no plan to get the economy moving again, and the chickens are coming home to roost.

All the Democrats and Obama have left is ... excuses.

Hey, it's not Virgil Goode's fault that Romney has an exposed right wing. The man has played conservatives for suckers and if the GOP-e thought he could just cruise to victory running as a moderate, then it's their own stupid fault if he fumbles the ball.

Next time, run a conservative and you won't have this problem.

He’s talking about Virgil Goode, the ex-Democrat Congresscritter, turned GOP, not Constitution Party.

I guess some people are slow on the uptake.

“Republicans were the main force driving “free trade” that has decimated our manufacturing. They are probably most at fault. “

Real free trade cant ‘decimate’ manufacturing. Government regulations that raise wage costs and make us uncompetitive does.

“Both parties did little to prevent another oil shock despite having since 1970 to do so. “

See my other post here about Pelosi and Democrats in 2008 stopping ‘drill here, drill now’. The Democrats and Obama has an explicit high-energy-price policy. GOP should have done more, yes, but its been Democrat policy and opposition driving us away from energy independence.

“Bush shocked the nation and devastated consumer psychology with the way he asked for TARP. “
Good point. Also, the Treasury and Fed stopped bear stearns from going BK, but they just let lehman fail. Inexplicable.
the elites went into panic mode that made it worse.

As I predicted the GOP-e insiders are geared up to run lots of TV advertisements.

TV is a dying industry.
