The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows President Obama attracting support from 48% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 45% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.
Todays data suggests that the presidents convention bounce has started to fade. See daily tracking history. When leaners are included, its Obama 49% and Romney 47%. Leaners are those who initially indicate no preference for either candidate but express a preference for one of them in a follow-up question.

Romney needs to make up a bit of ground. Undeniably so.
No room for despair; but no room for overconfidence, either. A country sick enough to vote for obama once, could do so again.
In a lot of places the Democrat party is a religion. You toe the party line no matter how much you disagree with what is going on. So they will mouth all the party loyalty slogans until they get in the privacy of the voting booth. These are the Democrats that 0bama scorned as "clinging to their God and their Guns" in 2008.
In 2008 0bama was a blank slate who these voters could write anything they wanted on. Now he is a known quantity.
In Wisconsin a lot of these people either stayed home or voted for Walker. Going to be interesting to see if they bother to show up or if the vote for 0 this time.
48/45 is just about where we were before the conventions....remarkably. I believe Obama hit 47/44 the Monday of the RNC event....give or take a point.
The panic was for not not. As pointed out in the post, you are correct....our side needs to close the deal. Obama does not have the votes, but mitt has not come close to winning the votes either.
Does anyone know what his swing state poll is?
Zero’s “bounce” is fading, soon to be only a tingle in Chris Matthews leg.
Today it's Obama+2.
A farce, he includes PA and NM in his “Swing state poll” which seriously screws the results towards 0.
I hate to nag but until we know rasmussen’s D\R\I split we don’t know much.
If you “normalize” today’s CNN and WP polls to correct for Dem over-sampling, you get much more favorable results for Romney than our supposedly rock solid Rasmussen.
So ... I still don’t get Raz.
This is a three-day poll.
A good Obama day (Friday) dropped off and it looks like there was at least a tie or more likely a +1 Romney day Monday.
I suspect tomorrows Rasmussen will show a +1 Obama or a tie.
Romney may be ahead by Thursday or Friday.
I doubt it. There is the 09-11 effect to weather yet. Normally the President gets a 4-5 point “Rally to the Flag” bounce the week of 09-11. I suspect next week we will be back to a tie or a Romney lead
I am terrified that all this is going to come down to the debates. However, Romney held his own against a feisty Newt, who is a very good debater. My fear is that the debates will be slanted toward Obama with cushy questions. We’ll see. If they had a legitimate debate, Obama would look like the weasel he is. I just hope that Romney will not be like McCain and try to be Mr. Nice.
I was right.
Ras is showing Obama +1 today.
Tie tomorrow I think.
