t appears New York Times columnist and Princeton economist Paul Krugman is a frequent punching-bag for CNBC host Joe Kernen.
On Monday mornings edition of Squawk Box, Kernen took to calling Krugman and Huffington Post economics blogger Dean Baker communists while defending CNNs Erin Burnett against criticism from the two.
Burnett had said on her show Friday evening that commodity prices have spiked since November 2008 because of the Federal Reserves policy of quantitative easing. In a HuffPost fact-check article aimed at debunking Burnett, Baker and Krugman were cited.
They quoted Paul Krugman and this other idiot, Dean Baker, whos some guy, I dont even know who he is, he always writes for The Huffington Post. Basically co-communists in a lot of different economic circles, Kernen said.
The outspoken host also tore into the idea of bloggers fact-checking on complex economic issues: You know, fact-checkers need fact-checking now. Theyre so full of crap. These fact-checkers lie more than the people that theyre fact-checking, he said, adding that, In the blogosphere, you can write what is libelous, you can lie and its taken as fact by the readers.
CNBC reporter Steve Liesman agreed: I get concerned when people who are not economics reporters, they get involved. Like when the White House guys start writing about economics, it makes me nervous.

Sounds about right
I’ve always liked Kernan. I suspect his contract at CNBC is up..Wonder when he starts on FOX Business
Joe Kernan and Rick Santelli are the only credible reporters left at NBC. I wonder why they haven’t left. Fox or Fox Business would hire them.
Have to agree on that, they call BS when they see BS.
Basically unheard of with the rest of the NBC Rat propagandists and airheads.
Right on right on...now exile them to North Korea to enjoy their utopia.
He’s the main reason I watch CNBC.
They do have great business news.
Could it be? Are some Libs learning the truth and now willing to speak the truth?
