An Oregon grade school principal suggested in a newspaper interview that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches might be racially and culturally offensive.
“What about Somali or Hispanic students who might not eat sandwiches?” Verenice Gutierrez told the Portland Tribune.

With this type of thinking, I guess toilet paper would be racist, since some cultures do not use it. So it should be banned, so no one is offended.
Well, what if the racist white kids don’t eat camel hocks or tacos?
Liberalism and political correctness override common sense nowadays.
So it’s really racist, not choosy, mothers who choose Jif?
Now I've heard everything.
Beetles and boiled yak face.
RACE CARD: The playing card of the intellectually and genetically inferior person.
Have nothing to defend your insane point of view, no problem, just pull out one of your race cards and it will shut your opponent up. That is of course your opponent is me.
For me, someone waving the race card is the same as a cheese eating surrender monkey Frenchman waiving a white flag.
Just wait until the muslim students find out they serve hot dogs in the cafeteria. Heaven forbid, the next thing you know they’ll be trotting out pigs-in-a-blanket!
The principal and her school are racist. They speak English and these immigrants don’t, so they might feel bad and discriminated against. Also, the school has bathrooms and toilet paper. These people are used to crapping on the floor and using their hands to, uh, you know. Bathrooms and toilet paper are racist.
So this hater and bigot, Gutierrez, must not know that a Black man, George Washington Carver invented peanut butter.
I guess she never heard of George Washington Carver.
Hmm. Bread, tortilla or pita? Which is better to use to beat the idea of racism into the little childrens heads?
I dont think Ill ever look at a loaf of rye quite the same way.
I am appalled by such sinister ways imagined by evil people and used to wreak havoc in the hearts of such young souls.
May God help the children.
This idiot should be immediately fired.
Obviously unqualified with too much time on “its” hands.
Maybe they can have The Count from Sesame Street say,
“ALLAHpeanutButterJellySandwiches” and spell it out that way as to be more diverse and inclusive.
In some cases, that means offering programs strictly for students of color.
If you’re “offended”, then it’s way passed time to GROW UP!
One possible response: "They're in America; they can darned-well learn to eat sandwiches".
Second possible response: "How dull would be a world with only torta and pita to eat. We should celebrate the diversity that 'sandwiches' bring to that world!".
Yes, and because it was invented by a black man, peanut butter cannot be racist.
What about Somali or Hispanic students who might not eat sandwiches? Verenice Gutierrez told the Portland Tribune.
Well they can go back to Somalia or Mexico then if the fact that we have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches offends them..
Spain is one of the whitest countries in Europe, only rivaled by Russia. The only race Spaniards - hispanics - can be is Caucasian. Even the inane U.S. government admits that "hispanic" is a made up group that has no racial component.
Feel sorry for kids who have a Mexican principal. If there is any country and culture on Earth that has a much lower reputation for education then Mexico, it's probably Somalia.
And it probably explains her twisted logic and strained reasoning, but then Leftist lawyers engage in that kind of crap all the time. Birds of a feather...
The stranger that is among you shall rise above you very high; and you shall be brought down very low. He shall lend to you, but you will not lend to him: he shall be the head, and you will become the tail.
Does he realize that the modern peanut was cultivated by a black man who dedicated his life it its development?
Maybe he is wanting to be offensive to blacks?
Peanut Butter was invented by one of the greatest American inventors, George Washington Carver, a black man. So I can see the naked bigotry there.
Romney supporters sign their checks on the front and Obama supporters sign theirs on the back.
Remember, this principal has a degree in education.
And is most probably a member of the NEA.
Need I say more?
Folks, they just don’t make ‘em any more stupid.
Now, why exactly does this dork have a job?
The socialist dream:
Sub-divide every state so that there is now a state representing every country in the world and change the USA TO UWA.....United World of America.
Then each new state can dictate the dietary and life style that each require.
I’m thinking, for starters, Mt. McKinley for the Maldivian’s, due there fear of rising seas. I’m sure they can find investors for a Mt. top airport.
Irish, Chicago, default and all.....green river pretty much puts their stamp there.
Chinese, China-town/San Fransisco....They’ll simply have to build extremely high to handle the population.
Then everyone is happy.....right?
One of the greatest scientists in American history and a personal favorite of mine.
No problem. Bring a ham sandwich instead.

Whatever happened to “E pluribus unum”?
This is like when Mexicans started reacting here in the US when they were referred to as being Mexican. Suddenly that was offensive and racist so someone in the Nixon administration came up the term HISPANIC. The only problem with that term is that the country affiliation is Spain. Not everyone in or from Mexico has Spanish ancestry. Why isn't WHITE rice racist? Oh crap, I just doomed the brown rice label.
Ridiculousness. It burns.
Ham and Swiss on dark rye is a hate crime.
You're at a school. Teach them.
A school principal, huh? I really screwed up by studying engineering in college. I should have chosen a profession where I could pull c**p like this out of my backside and call it “enlightenment”, get paid large and have no accountability.
What about Somali or Hispanic students who might not eat sandwiches?
How could peanut butter be “racist”? It was probably first used by South American Indians in pre-Columbian times and popularized by George Washington Carver—a black man.
Dittos. When I clicked on this thread, it had 11 replies. #12 & 13 both had the same answer, but I decided to open another window to add his picture and some of his history. FReepers lead the way with intelligence. Bet it ticks her off when she finds out he was a black scientist.
This is beyond nutty - I attended the United Nations International School from grades 1-6, and at least half the students were foreign - in a class of 15, I recall a Japanese, two from India, a Lebanese and a Slavic - we ate the same very bad school food. Nobody thought anything of it.
Of course, these foreigners were the children of diplomats, so no one was trying to make hay out of their being “victims”.
Also, from traveling at a very young age, I learned from my parents that it was the worst possible form to demand or insist upon “our” food - one should graciously adapt to the cuisine and customs of the country. And so should the visitors or immigrants to our country not behave like vulgar tourists clamoring for food from home; they should learn to graciously adapt, even to p&j sandwiches.
In some cases, that means offering programs strictly for students of color.
isn’t that racism?
Liberals oppose becoming American.
They hate this country.

That is worth repeating....
This is what our schools have been doing. This is how you get voters that elect Obama!
POP CORN IS RACIST!
George Washington Carver, the man who made the peanut what it is today, was black.
