Bear-Hugging Pizzeria Owner Feel Boycott After Obama Visit
Newsmax ^ | 9-10-12 | Patrick Hobin

Posted on 09/11/2012 3:57:22 PM PDT by kingattax

Pizza and politics may not mix, at least a restaurant owner photographed bear-hugging President Obama.

Scott Van Duzer, the owner of the Florida pizza shop, struck fame for a photograph of him lifting President Barack Obama off the floor with a bear hug at his Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce in Sunday during a last-minute visit from the Commander-in-Chief.

The photograph made the front pages of newspapers around the country and the image was an Internet sensation at warp speed.

The good will was short-lived for Van Duzer though. He told Politico that people are boycotting his business because of the famous presidential hug.

“People are saying a lot of bad things and boycotting my restaurant,” Scott Van Duzer, 46, told Politico. “There’s no middle line anymore, and that’s exactly what’s wrong with our country right now.”

You’re the one who met with Obama at the WH before the event. It was obviously a staged event and gave you your 15 minutes of fame. Now you’re seeing exactly what that fame is worth. I hope you understand, you did it to yourself. I don’t give a rat’s a$$ what impact it has on your business.

“There’s no middle line anymore..."

If you think that Øbama represents the "middle line" you are too stupid to run a pizza parlor.

I guess he knows how the owners of his nearby Chic-Fil-A felt about a month ago.
It's always funny to hear liberals cry when they get boycotted.

Had to be scripted in advance and the Obama dupe had to have been screened to the nth degree... otherwise the Secret Service would never have let the guy get so physical with the POS POTUS.

Let the willing dupe squirm for being part of the ongoing fraud!

Since Great Leader is so popular and leading in the polling I would imagine the surge in new business will offset any boycott. Unless Great Leader’s supporters are waiting for the government pizza vouchers. Those are slated for the second term so I hope this guy can hold out. Then again, it shouldn’t be a problem since he knows he didn’t build that. The roads and bridges will be along to help him any day now.

This guy is too stupid to get too mad at.

There IS no middle line anymore, either you are part of the effort to take down this country or you're against it. There's nothing good about being ambivalent.

I respectfully disagree. ONe of the things that is wrong with our country is that people's lives have become too permeated with their politics.

If you dislike his politics enough to avoid his establishment then just don’t go. Announcing and encouraging the boycott of a business over a politically charged photo reeks of leftist tactics. It’s negative and punitive, as opposed to the Chick-fil-A “buycott.” This could very well backfire, the boycott advocates are putting themselves in the same position as the gay marriage crowd, opposing free speech.

Location in Florida is the answer to this guy’s problem...

If he is in a part that backs Obama, he shouldn’t have a problem. In fact he should have been overwhelmed with Obama supports. Sounds like he screwed up hoping to get a Obama bump and ended up getting a thump.

Some lessons are learned the hard way.

They talk about compromise and working together , when what they want is for us to totally surrender. And our side has. When has government been shrunken? When never .And they want us to compromise. We won't compromise anymore with liberals/democrats/marxists on ANYTHING no matter how small something is: Government has always grown , we never have gotten anything except more government which equals more tyranny and less opportunity for us. We can't and won't compromise with government because that will be compromising with evil and inefficiency and tyranny.
