(Reuters) – Egyptian protesters scaled the walls of the U.S. embassy on Tuesday, tore down the American flag and burned it during a protest over what they said was a film being produced in the United States that insulted Prophet Mohammad.

In place of the U.S. flag, the protesters tried to raise a black flag with the words “There is no God but God, and Mohammad is his messenger”, a Reuters witness said.

Once the U.S. flag was hauled down, some protesters tore it up and showed off pieces to television cameras. Others burned the remains outside the fortress-like embassy building in central Cairo. But some protesters objected to the flag burning.

Many Muslims consider any depiction of the Prophet to be offensive.

I know that there are differences between Islamists (political Islam, sharia law advocates) and Muslims.. seems to be like the difference between white supremacist "Christian" Identity members and Christians. I worked with Muslims for several years. I have never met an Islamist -- or a white supremacist "Christian" Identity member.

I urge that more movies, songs, plays, essays, whatever flood the world until these Islamists mentally deranged issue of consanguineous marriages die of exhaustion.

The film is immaterial, how many Libyan or Egyptian peasants would have even have heard of it in the course of their miserable little lives?

It's (11) 9/11 stupid!

If the film didn't exist they'd have rioted over a rumor of cartoon, or a rumor of kosher MREs, or a rumor that Obama's poll standings were falling.

"They" are ascendant and "they" are linked, today's incidents are prologue.
