How murder of U.S. ambassador to Libya plunges Obama's re-election campaign into crisis
Daily Mail UK ^ | 09/12/2012 | Toby Harnden

The Obama administration is engulfed in a full-blown foreign policy crisis just two months before the presidential election with the two campaigns trading angry accusations over events in Libya, Egypt and Israel.

Footage of the body of Christopher Stevens, United States ambassador to Libya, slung over the back of a protester, was reminiscent of the 1993 'Black Hawk Down' incident in Somalia in 1993 when militia fighters lynched American aircrew in the streets of Mogadishu.

President Barack Obama's staff will also be mindful that a shadow was cast over Jimmy Carter's presidency by the Iranian hostage crisis after the US embassy in Tehran was stormed by Islamist extremists following the Iranian revolution.

A year after the 52 Americans were taken hostage, Carter lost the 1980 election. The hostages were released just as President Ronald Reagan, who defeated Carter, was sworn in.

This was not only a murder of our ambassador, this was a terrorist ATTACK on our country!

There should be an immediate military response!

For all those who criticize this movie trailer please explain to me how you protested Monty Python's Life of Bryan? This trailer looks to me EXACTLY how a Monty Python movie looks like.

Take a good look at the slain ambassador, people. His name was J.C. Stevens and he was just appointed to the position in June, replacing a senior foreign service officer who was packed off to Ghana.

Like Brian Terry, Stevens, two U.S. Marines and a junior foreign service officer slain with him, were all just expendable pawns in a giant Obama game to downsize America's influence in the world.

Wow. Just watched the trailer...and tried to keep up on the rapid-fire YouTube comment section. If the comment section is a representative sample of people (young males) - it is one more proof we are in a world of ignorance and danger.

As a college senior on January 20, 1981, I still have a vivid recollection of standing outside a classroom on that historic day with my eyes and those of many fellow students glued to a television set up in the hall.

It was a split screen newscast with the president being sworn in on one side and the plane load of hostages on the tarmac in Tehran waiting for take-off clearance.

As soon as Reagan was sworn-in, the Iranians stepped out of the plane's path waved the wands to signal them to taxi down the runway. It was their final gesture of contempt for Carter.

"....could be that this is the “crisis” Obama needs to cancel the elections and invoke martial law."

That might result in armed rebellion - I don't think they're that stipid to try that - yet.

You are correct. Obama's Libyan policy was at variance with both reason & law. (See Libya, America & The Law Of Nations.)

By the same token, Obama is largely responsible for the outrage in Cairo.

Every educated American once was familiar with Washington's Farewell Address. It was truly wisdom for the ages; wisdom that we repeatedly ignore, greatly to our peril.

I remember that day very well.
The local paper had two headlines; RR elected and hostages released.

There are a lot of jihadists within and outside America among these anti-American comments on progressive websites. I can recognize their language patterns and themes. It’s not the usual anti-American communist party crap.
