Latinos want bias probe of Fox, talk radio

Latino groups Wednesday blamed a surge in hate crimes against Hispanics on harmful stereotypes portrayed on TV and in conservative media and are asking the administration to probe Fox News and talk radio, two media cited by the groups as the worst perpetrators.

"We want the government to investigate this," said Alex Nogales, president of the National Hispanic Media Coalition. "Unless we start this dialogue, these assaults will go on," he said, citing a surge in hate crimes against Hispanics.

Also charging Fox News and talk radio with portraying Hispanics poorly, Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., said the administration should provide "protection from the stimuli that is being promoted out there that is causing the correlation between violence, stereotyping and the increasing racism in this country against Latinos."

News industry insiders, however, noted that Fox has a sister division, Fox Latino, which was recently lauded by NPR. Fox also has several Hispanic hosts. Fox had no comment.

Nogales said his group has been measuring media bias against Latinos since 2008 and now he feels it's time for the government to step in. To back up his claim and provide the Federal Communications Commission with ammo to use against news outlets, Nogales commissioned polling from Latino Decisions to test American views of Hispanics.

There is a mad scramble and competition among assorted minorities and interests groups to lay claim to victim status and a claim to be the swing vote that will decide most every election.

Time to ignore these professional victim-mongers.

This is just election season propagandists stirring the propaganda pot.

Just doing what they can to keep hispanics from being tempted away from the DNC plantation.

How many of these crimes are black on hispanic vs white on hispanic?

Sorry pal, the numbers don't lie. Whites and Asians have very low crime rates and even fewer interracial incidents.

Bear this in mind when Republicans tell us how we should court the Christian, conservative, Latino vote.

Then for fun, go visit the La Raza website:

And how do cold hard facts and stats portray Latinos in terms of: involvement in crime, high school drop out rates, out-of-wedlock birth rates, and illegal entry into the US rates?

"We want the government to investigate this," said Alex Nogales, president of the National Hispanic Media Coalition.

And what the hell do you expect them to do about it once they reach the conclusion you're campaigning for....?

The entire premise is horse manure, there is no “surge in hate crimes against Hispanics”, there is a surge in crimes perpetrated by illegal alien Hispanics, and the public hates that.

He has a point. Fox News frequently has Geraldo Rivera and Juan Williams on (Williams is a native of Panama). They may contribute to people having negative stereotypes.

They should go after ESPN too. All those baseball players from the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and other Latin-American countries. ESPN frequently shows Hispanics striking out, walking batters, committing errors, etc. They need to implement a 7-second time delay so they can edit out anything that makes Hispanics look bad.

Rep. Raul Grijalva is not only a race-baiting grievance pimp but he is also co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus with Keith "Koran" Ellison. Other notable intellectual luminaries of the CPC include Barney Frank, Hank Johnson, Pete Stark, Sheila Jackson-Lee and "Kerosene" Maxine Waters.

Messrs. Grijalva and Nogales need to STFU.

Hey, Congressman. Have you ever read this?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
