It is possible the cab guy tried to stiff the wrong Gunny somehow...

Even if that's what happened it's no excuse for what he did.The correct way to handle it is to get on the phone to the police and let them settle it.Whether it was booze, drugs or PTSD the Marine was way, way,WAY out of line.

Is this whole thing a staged propaganda play organized by somebody connected to Obama to fuel support for his recent mandated Veteran Health care act?

There appears to me more cases of acts like this, too coincidental I think, staged? Get some big bucks for your family to participate in a staged event?

Smells like fermenting herring to me.

What makes a soldier great might also make him a lousy citizen. I think this guy proves it.

I think that I will go along with your assessment. If the Marine had been serious the guy would have been bleeding and if not unconscionus, barely conscience, his speech would have been slurred, and from experience when I had been hit on or close to the nose, his eyes would have been watering. There is something that don’t add up.

Soldier and civilian are not mutually exclusive. And you just don't get promoted six times over a ten year span in the MC by behaving this way.
After five or six or maybe even eight tours in a combat zone he just freaked.
No excuses - just sayin'.

Maybe so. I remember my husband telling me after leaving the corps that the hardest part for him being out in the RW was not having someone telling you what to do, how to think, when to do something, etc. it took a while to get used to it. My comment was aimed more at that. Someone may follow orders in an exemplary manner and be totally lost in the RW without having an overseer.

Sorry, not in my Marine Corps.

I once worked with a guy who had done two tours in Vietnam as a Marine.Although I never saw combat and, therefore, might not be qualified to judge, everything about him suggested to me that he might be a great guy to have standing beside you in a firefight. However,he was a complete jerk in the workplace. He treated everyone like he was the DI and they were the recruits.Nobody liked him.

Yea, the driver probably fell down the steps to his basement after he got home......

Gunnery Sargeants don’t have overseers; they are the overseers.

I think that one or two Marine officers might take issue with you on that.

I think not.

Gunnery Sergeant is that quintessential rank of United States Marine Corps enlisted service. It is a Gunny's job to provide for a discipline those Marines in his Company, a job with which officers seldom interfere.

The video I watched did not show this. I stand corrected. Having been on both ends of ass whippings [getting them and giving them] from whatI saw on the cab video he did not look all that bad. Thank you for updating me.

Keep in mind that the dash mounted camera also gives a distorted perception of depth of field so as to capture both the driver and passenger via wide angle. Not sure how to explain it other than it’s like looking through a rifle scope from the opposite end. Or your passenger side mirror that has the warning “objects in mirror may be closer than they look”

“I can pick at least a dozen times where a different course of action by the driver could have averted everything.”

Maybe. But, there are no laws against telling someone to get out of your cab.

However, there are laws against Assault and Attempted Grand Theft of an Auto and the Marine in going to do hard time for his crime.

“It is possible the cab guy tried to stiff the wrong Gunny somehow. No excuse, but I’d like to know the Gunny’s side.”

No money exchanged hands and the victim was just doing his job of driving a cab.

As for the Gunny he will soon be an inmate breaking rocks in the hot sun.
