* Chairman of Joint Chiefs asks pastor to not support film
* Pastor agrees to 're-evaluate' showing movie
By Phil Stewart
WASHINGTON, Sept 12 (Reuters) - General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, called a Florida pastor on Wednesday and asked him to withdraw his support for a film whose portrayal of the Prophet Mohammad has been linked to violent protests - including one that ended with the death of America's envoy to Libya.
"In the brief call, Gen. Dempsey expressed his concerns over the nature of the film, the tensions it will inflame and the violence it will cause," Dempsey's spokesman, Colonel Dave Lapan, told Reuters.
U.S. military officials are concerned that the film could inflame tensions in Afghanistan, where 74,000 U.S. troops are fighting. The Taliban called on Afghans on Wednesday to prepare for a fight against Americans and urged insurgents to "take revenge" on U.S. soldiers over the film.
"He told me he had seen the film and that the film was pornographic ... and very, very bad. He asked me not to support it," Pastor Terry Jones told Reuters.
Jones agreed to "re-evaluate" his plans to show the film. "If the film is indeed pornographic, then, of course, as a Christian pastor I cannot support that type of film and could not show it," he said.

Odd that the Pastor wouldn’t have known more about the film before supporting it. Hmmm.
Dempsey is a traitor. But to be accurate, the film should show mohammed leading a 9 year old by the hand, into the bedroom.
Given that Mohammad was a pedophile, any Islamic presentation could be considered porno.
This explains perhaps why liberals support muzzies but not Christians.
But he sure took the General’s word that it was indeed “pornographic”.
Very odd indeed.
Can he call the makers of GLEE, New Normal and all those other shows that spread hatred of Christians??
Who gives a crap (a) what the film shows, (b) what an insignificant pastor knew about it, or (c) what he supports one way or the other!?!?!
IT’S SURREAL! It’s not even “when did you stop beating your wife.” It’s “What is it about the color green that makes you beat your wife!?!?!?”
We all are aware of that thread. Old News. This update has to do with Pastor Jones’s response to the General.
General, it is not your job to even suggest that Americans should curtain their freedom of speech because that speech is offensive to people who are our self-declared enemies.
Instead, you should reevaluate efforts to form relationships with such people, instead of treating them as hostiles.
In World War II, when the US military captured and occupied a region known to have Nazi sympathies, we did not respect those sympathies, and informed the people of that region that they would henceforth discontinue their support for the Nazis under penalty of military discipline.
And while we would not go so far today as to tell Muslims to discontinue practicing their religion, we could advise them that any use of their religion against us would be dealt with harshly. If they decided to riot because of some imagined “offense” against their religion, the rioters should be considered fifth columnists working for the enemy, arrested and detained.
There is one scene that seemed unnecessarily lewd, but certainly not as salacious as some late night cable content.
So will Jones edit the video and repost?
Lets not forget that Jones has backed down before....for a price. I put him in the Fred Phelps category as not what he seems.
It is surreal....everything about this “spontaneous” situation is.
If anything, the General should be wondering why we’re in these hell holes for no apparent reason.
Seems to me that our “allies” are killing us at a greater rate than terrorists these days. I’m actually surprised no one has asked if arms we gave to the Libyans were used to kill the ambassador.
Check out post # 7 in the link I sent you.
Focus....focus.....focus.....this is a feint.....this was Obama and Hillary’s failure.
Glad O-dung-a takes the separation of Curch and State seriously otherwise the armed military might try to push unarmed religious people around.
Next time just send a drone, it's legal now.
I hope Pastor Terry Jones told that creep Dempsey to go to Gehenna.
