It is my firm conviction that no principled person should even consider staying in the Democrat Party. In the interest of full disclosure, I left the Republican Party many years ago because they were almost a carbon copy (do carbon copies still exist?) of the Democrats. Today, it is a little different: the Democrats have officially driven so far left that no honest, decent, principled, and free-enterprise adherent can keep membership in such a far left party and be associated with the low-lifes at all levels.
I live in north Georgia where Democrats have been in office for decades, and I have voted for some them. They are good people, doing a great job; however, this year, many top officials have left the donkey standing in the field and jumped on the back of the elephant. They knew the Democratic ship was taking in water, listing far, far to the left, and ready to sink or else they were simply embarrassed to be identified with such a sleazy organization. Whatever their motive, I congratulate them for their character. It seems the Democrats are trying to reach new heights (or is that lows?) in politics. Their audacity is astounding; their stupidity is shocking; and their unfairness is unbelievable. They showed their true colors (if anyone needed the revelation) with their “God-maneuver” regarding their official platform. First, they decided to eliminate God (and Jerusalem as Israel’s capital), two decisions only a political novice or dedicated radical would do. (Frankly, I think God would have preferred not to be associated with their radical agenda.) Then they got flak from the public and they put God back in the platform! That decision simply proves they are driven by votes not virtue, pragmatism not principle, and expediency not exceptionalism. Leading Democrats should be reminded what happened when God was expelled from the public school system: drugs, no discipline, approval of perversion, sex, even abnormal sex, even sex between teachers and students, little learning with students not reading until the 6th or 7th grade, free condoms, violence, spiraling costs, etc. We reap what we sow! The hasty change to add God and Jerusalem back in the platform was a major fiasco and a national embarrassment. The motion to change the platform (requiring two-thirds vote) was decided by voice vote of the delegates and the vote was about even. The chairman said, “Let’s do that again.” A second time the vote was about even so he said, “Let’s do that again.” About this time there were so many principled delegates blushing, the glow could be seen in Winston-Salem. On the third time, the vote was obviously against adding God to the platform but was judged to be in favor of God so the change was approved. That is when the atheists, homosexuals, and “Palestinians” booed the decision because they had won the vote! If Heaven has a newspaper, the headlines would be, “God Booed at Democratic National Convention.” God was not only booed but His name was also taken in vain by the former Ohio governor. It was totally unnecessary and was a slap at God and a slap at all Christians. He should be forced to apologize and Obama and the convention chairman should repudiate his speech. That won’t happen since they are not principled people.
I am still convinced that God would be embarrassed to be associated with what went on during those three days. Almost all the main speakers sang the same song: same-sex marriage; abortion even to the last trimester; birth control, union dominance; ad nauseum.
Moreover, how could any principled person stomach the parade of famous slim balls who talked about but disregarded women’s rights? Everyone knows that wives and daughters were not safe in their presence without a company of Marines for protection. Ted Kennedy did not care for women’s rights; rather he permitted a young lady to drown in the backseat of his car while he hastened to provide an alibi for his drunken cowardice. He did show up the next day wearing a neck brace. I assume it was because even he was so humiliated at his inactions that he couldn’t hold up his head without help. After that, for years he was known as a moral leper with no woman being safe in his presence.
Then the golden boy of the party Bill Clinton took the stage and did a magnificent job of pitching Obama to a gullible audience. Every female in the crowd should have walked out during his speech. As president, he made all principled people ashamed to be an American when he cavorted with an endless list of women all over Arkansas and Washington. Does anyone remember Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Gennifer Flowers, and Juanita Broaddrick, the latter charging Billy Boy with rape? He then lied about his affairs with unmitigated gall telling the television audience, “I did not have sex with that woman.” That woman was Monica Lewinsky an unpaid White House intern and only 21 years old.
Then Jack Kennedy was touted by his daughter for his work even though reporters knew at the time that he was a handsome, charming, intelligent dirtbag. He sat naked around the pool with young and older women and sought to pick up stewardesses, waitresses, and anything in skirts for a one-night fling. He had affairs with actresses Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Kim Novak and Angie Dickinson. Yet fools (or fanatics) still speak glowingly of “Camelot.” However, Camelot was more like a cow lot. Oh, yes, Democrats really love women, don’t they? They just don’t seem to respect them.

Principled Democrats?? Huh. Haven’t had any of those since Roe v Wade.
Ironically I don’t think very many of the partisans in either party actually like either party...even “their own”.
Its like having two color choices, Pink or Black...with no other variation.
But on the other hand, having 8 different functional parties that could win is its own disaster waiting to happen.
And 3 parties....we see how well that works in the UK and other places.
But still, the idea that two boxes can contain the great variation in political opinion is so obviously absurd, yet it has endured.
The democrat party is beyond salvation, it is a lawless organization.
There are NO “principled democrats”. They are just being who they’ve always been.

Zell Miller comes to mind. The late Gov. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania. Senators Sam Nunn and “Scoop” Jackson.
I’ll note all are either retired or passed on. . .
I’d even throw in Hubert Humphrey, one of the few Democrats I truly respected.

I was a diehard Democrat until 9/11. After that I became a Bush Democrat bc as an Iranian American I understood precisely what he was trying to do, and it was Iran, stupid. He had the mullahs scared $%itless and on the run from this mercurial “crazy” gun-totting Texas cowboy and his crazier VP — just the ticket necessary to fight these vermin. They were ready to bow in a-salaam in front of America at the time. Alas the miserable scurrilous despotic democrats stood in his way. They undermined his agenda bc they didn’t want to give him a political victory, the despicable scumbags. I hated and loathed them after that. I never ever thought democrats would be so vile as to undermine their own security and future for short term political profit.
Any principled Democrats left the Party years ago.
