Newt Gingrich on Libya/Egypt attacks: We need to be standing up for and defending freedom (CNN)

Newt Gingrich says that these attacks on our embassies and consulates arent just coincidental, but rather there are substantial factions who look for opportunities to attack America:
Theres a substantial faction, particularly in Benghazi, which was sending people to Iraq to kill Americans. Theres a substantial faction in Egypt which wants to defeat the United States and destroy Israel. That faction looks for opportunities to do things to hurt the United States and yesterday was the example of an attack thats part of a very long war that were going to be at for a very long time.
Exactly. This isnt about a movie about Muhammad. This is about people who hate America who will use anything as a foil to do us harm.
Gingrich also defends Romneys statement yesterday, which is clearly coming under false attacks by the Obama campaign, and says that we must be standing up for and defending freedom against these attacks.

These days, 45% of those living in this country believe that freedom is overrated. Those dung heaps will give up everything for government handouts and freebies.

Its never too early for the United States government to condemn attacks on Americans and to defend our values.
Finally Mitt shows he has a pair.

History is repeating itself?
In 1979 we had a weak president -- Carter -- who invited attack of our embassy in an Islamic country. The Muslims knew Carter would do nothing.
Now in 2012 Obama's failed leadership has inspired Islamic radicals to attack not one, but two embassies on the anniversary of 9 11.

Who? The U.S.? Won't happen.
0bama sent a letter to Tehran assuring them that the U.S. will do nothing to help Israel taking that off of the table removing a big worry for them that might have made them think twice. Iran is good to go now with 0bama's blessing.
We don't support Israeli attack, US tells Iran

This is really beginning to grate. I can’t even count the number of times some rat news-host or reporter reports that the embassy apology letter PRECEDED the flag-destruction at the Cairo embassy. Yes, yes, we know that. But the embassy doubled-down AFTER the flag-destruction, repeating the “apology,” and no one seems to remind the news-folks of that—including Newt in this interview. Not to mention that it took Romney’s condemnation of the letter to spur TOTUS into a semi-correction of the embassy’s ineptness. I say “semi-” because he has yet to refer to Cairo as a separate incident.

I doubt that anyone has more historical recall than he. But his own ‘shoot-first’ tendencies won’t endear him to the dem Senate (if it’s still dem by consent-time).

Sorry, Bolton is a diplomat and for homosexuals in the military, but he’s likely Romney’s choice, and Rudy would be a good AG, but I’d much prefer Newt. That entire department needs a fumigation and no more nonsense from activist judges.

Yep. Newt would be a great addition to the cabinet. Whether State or elsewhere, but press secretary would be too trivial a position for that mind. He could do great, but his talents could best be served elsewhere.

Well “Professor’ Gingrich trying to educate the talking heads once again came as no surprise. What did surprise me was watching how Romney handled the vicious press yesterday — resolute and outraged. After seeing how well he stood up to them, I’m confident he’ll do quite well in the upcoming debates.
