Tony Perkins says enthusiasm growing for Romney, predicts record turnout

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said Wednesday (Sept. 12) that conservative Christians are growing more enthusiastic about GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, and predicted they would show up at the polls in record numbers in November.

“When it comes to the values of family, values of faith, values of freedom, Mitt Romney is a clear choice, I think, for value voters across this country,” Perkins said at a National Press Club luncheon two days before his organization kicks off its annual Values Voter Summit in Washington.

Perkins, a Southern Baptist, said evangelical Christians have “significant theological differences” with Romney, a Mormon, but he said the GOP nominee, if elected, would not be asked to head a national church.

“We don’t want a national church. We want religious freedom,” he said. “I think someone who has been a part of a persecuted religion is going to be even more sensitive to the issue of religious freedom.”(continued)

I really don't know what people see in him. He must be telling them what they
want to hear. Maybe-sorta like a dog whistle pitch that we are immune to.

He’s wrong. Enthusiasm is growing for throwing Obama out. Romney just gets those votes.

Found this site, it has some excellent information I wasn’t aware of about Romney, all clickable links on the topics below that show his record. For example, he tried to bring back the death penalty in Massachusetts, etc...

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

Some of Mitt Romney’s critics have made irresponsible allegations with regard to Mitt’s record. Many, including the media, have failed to verify the factual basis for these claims and have continued to repeat them. WhyRomney.com is an independent website that debunks these claims and seeks to set the record straight.

Romneys comments on the attacks were spot on.

My standard donation {this year} is $20.12.

I may send more than one donation to a specific candidate, but this year that is my amount.

I had a $ 1,000 saved for Sarah, but she saved me the money and I bought new golf clubs {just trying to get the economy going}.

Since she didn't run, I stopped any donation to her pac.

I hope to God Perkins is right. Voting this year, more than at anytime in memory, is going to have to be an “all hands” operation. There is no room..none at all.. for apathy this year.

Maximum turnout by conservatives and GOPers .. reservations about Romney notwithstanding... is the only hope of stopping Obama.

Maybe his staff is giving the folks that show up at his events some purple “Go-Go” juice or something.

I don’t get how anyone can be so ignorant as to think this traitor to our country is doing even a passable job as president. (which is better than the incomplete grade he gave himself!)

The semi-rustic churls with whom I do my VFW socializing will tell you they are "Conservative," (except in gallons of beer consumed)

BUT The Official Scientific Kenny Bunk Obnoxious Buttonhole In-Your-Face Poll taken in 2010 (when I personally wasn't running for anything)indicated that about 50% of these huntin' fishin' golfin' yahoos did not vote! That was DID NOT VOTE

Bar Closed, damn it! No Alcohol Sales this time until the members show up with an "I voted" sticker. (It also would be nice, now that we have to have some heat on, if you boys washed, shaved, and did not come straight from the barn.)

Also, you get your ass to the polls or I tell everyone in town that you are for Gay Marriage and are a bit overly friendly to that waitr.......

Whats this suppose to mean ???

“he said. “I think someone who has been a part of a persecuted religion is going to be even more sensitive to the issue of religious freedom.”(

I am not Mormon. But I think it has to do with the violent persecution of Mormons (and some of them, yes, did fight back) in the 19th century in the US. Some moved to Mexico, like Romney's great-grandfather. In Mexico, they, like many other overtly religious people, were persecuted by Mexico's anticlerical leftist government early in the 20th century.

Romney was my last choice among the GOP candidates, but the persecution of Mormons is a fact of history. None of us knows Romney's heart, I suppose, but it stands to reason that, if his family and co-religionists experienced persecution, he may have learned that religious persecution is not a good thing.

Liberalism is no longer politics, it is now religion, and has eloped with Islam. There is not a single thing that Al Quaeda does, that liberals wouldn't do, if they thought it would bring about this leftist utopia that will never exist. Review their plan to remove 90 percent of the world's population, as a genocidal sacrifice to Gaia.

Curse the war that takes peace, but seek the battle that brings peace.

I wondewr if he learnt that polygamy is not a good thing...

He never has spoken against it...

He is the father of gay marriage and many polygamists are for gay marriage...

Polygamy is the reason Willards great grandfather went to Mexico...

polygamy is the reason the Mormons were not accepted by the Christians in the areas they moved to..

polygamy and crime is the reason for the local law enforcement so called “persecuting” them..

polygamy was against the law from 1862 and the Mormons insisted on breaking the “unlawful habitation” laws ...

The last polygamous Mormon leader (prophet/president) died in 1945...

It was not until 1945 80 years after the polygamy law was passed that the Mormons finally had a monogamous “prophet”

Willard in his religious beliefs accepts “sustains” all the former teachings of Mormonism including their doctrine of polygamy which remains the “first principle” the main tenet of their beliefs, necessary for advancement to godhood which is necessary to get into the top of the three tiers of their afterlife...

Your comments are always so insightful. So please share with us, if you will.

On the night of the election, one person will be named the winner - Obama or Romney. I know they are both bad choices for you, particularly Romney, but whom do you want to see making the concession speech?

Yesterday on Fox, Bill Donohue from the Catholic League was plenty pissed at Obama, too. Ditto re a Jewish spokesman. Both say that their respective groups should not vote for Obama. If we can get a significant number of them to see the light, I guess a miracle can happen. It’s all in God’s hands, anyhow.

“Both if them...” doesn’t make sense, but of course you never do.

Yes, I knew you would not answer. I was just trying to expose you on this thread for what you are. It did not take events of the last couple days. Everyone knows that radical Islam is the greatest threat we face, but your hatred of the Mormon still comes shining through. Well, one of them is going to give that concession speech. For the sake of the survival of this nation, it had better be the Muslim.

At least technically speaking, Polygamy is sort of off the table.

It is permitted (if not encouraged)by Orthodox Jewry, Islam of course, and by hundreds of tribal sects, as is polyandry in some cultures. Here in good olde Sodom and Gomorrah-land, communal common-law marriage is not exactly illegal, either.

Back in Utah, there's quite a bit of modern polygamy going on (if you'll pardon an inept phrase) under the table. If polygamy is going to hurt young Willard, the attacks would probably have to come from the "Right," because how can a Leftie be "judgmental " what with their support of queer "marriage," NAMBLA, queer scouts, etc.

As far as Willard supporting polygamy, he can always say, "In a way, those of us who honor the Old Testament all do!"

I was always taught that the Mormons OFFICIALLY gave up Polygamy in exchange for Utah statehood. Wink. Wink.
