Romney does not get national security briefings
CBS ^ | 9/12/12 | Sarah B. Boxer

Mitt Romney does not currently receive national security briefings, his campaign confirmed to CBS News today.

Typically, presidential candidates begin receiving briefings after securing their party's nomination, which Romney did in Tampa two weeks ago.

"It's a long-standing practice for presidential candidates and select advisers to be provided intelligence briefings following the party's nominating convention," Shawn Turner, the spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, told CNN in June. "During the last presidential campaign, all the candidates began receiving briefings in September following the conventions."

Turner tells CBS News the process is "moving forward."

"The Intelligence Community is working closely with the Romney campaign to finalize the logistics for the candidate briefings," he told CBS News. "The process is moving forward on schedule and we are not aware of any concerns."

Un-F'n-believable.

So, to the media, this is the same as Obama the Commander in Chief not receiving intelligence briefings.

Ya think the ‘intelligence community’ might have had a six or seven months heads up that Romney was going to be the nominee and the nominating would be done in August?

Why would Obama offer something to Romney that he doesn’t bother receiving himself? Obama doesn’t value the briefings himself, so he sees no need to include anyone else.

IIRC, the Clinton administration was very slow to get GWB into the loop and did everything possible to slow the transition after the 2000 election. Their excuse was that they didn’t want to act while Bush v. Gore was in the courts, but it was a first in excluding a nominee and later a President-Elect from necessary knowledge.

I was thinking the same thing. We knew months ago Romney would be the candidate. All these details could of and should have already been done.

Gee...I wonder who could have put the breaks on those preperations? And why?

Hate conspiracy stuff, but ...0bama needed a big moment to shine ....

The process is moving forward? Just like 0's campaign? That explains everything.

As I have said last month and was flamed about it, I had a vision that Romney won’t be available for the election, perhaps the die has already been cast and they are refusing him access because someone in a higher place has already decided Romney doesn’t need it.

Either because Obama will remain in office or somebody else will be brought in at the last minute.

This is typical of the Obama Administration. They’re behind the curve all the time. Sometimes by accident and sometimes on purpose, but always a menace.

You are missing the point. If Romney gets the briefings Obama will have to attend the meetings because Romney might know more about what is going on than he does and might trip him up in a debate.

Obama does not want to go to those boring meetings because it cuts into his golf time so every day they can delay is another day to play golf.

More “blame Romney” spin.

They are treating Romney as if he is the incumbent.

The GOP convention ended less than two weeks ago. And, the media is running a story about how ROMNEY is not attending security meetings!

Obama botched 9-11 security. Period.

A US Ambassador was allegedly raped, and we know for certain, murdered.
