U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. consulate in Cairo.
Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. “She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.”
If true, the reports indicate that Patterson shirked her obligation to protect U.S. interests, Nightwatch states.

Thanks for your notes Kabar,,I am reading some of the posts on the Fox site,,,and not everyone is convinced,,just saying. The one thing this WH is good at is mucking up communication so that they can go back later and control the message based on the outcry/reaction...they just issue one of those famous clarifications. Makes me sick.

I did not serve.
My previous post was a little sloppy. The note in it was from a former soldier that was in Beirut. I hope I didn’t mislead anyone.
Tried to tell others about Marines and soldiers doing such duties without ammunition, but others obfuscated the matter and issued false reports. There’s a generalized hatred and fomented distrust against men (i.e., men) and real families in the USA, and it’s been constructed by all political sides for decades. Have fun. Enjoy the slide.
Hopefully, under President Romney, the "special relationship" will have meaning again.
FYI Tennesse Nana: Mitt Romney had an extensive interview in my latest NRA magazine. He is absolutely in favor of the second amendment.

The truth is a few marines with or without live ammo can’t do a thing to calm a rioting mob of ten thousand crazed muzzie nutjobs.
At the same time a few rounds fired into a crowd will make a huge PR for these idiots.
Not to mention a crowd will take it as an excuse to murder all the ambassy stuff.

Not sure what your point is...uhhhh....there were no Marines on the Cole. The failure of the Cole to protect herself fell on the culture within the Navy and the Pentagon: and the inability of DoD, Congress, and the American people to get their heads around Salafist Islam. They Navy blamed the Captain of the Cole, but ignored the prevailing mindset.

- Today I am seeing/hearing Jay Carney and Hillary Clinton do a complete 180• and now again blaming a dumb video and denying the attacks, atrocities, and murderer in Libya had any relationship to 9/11/2001 and planning by Al Quaida or any of their cowardly little buddies - here or abroad.
- The useful idiots in “tuh” White House are also denying they were warned 48 hours before of the planned attacks by terrorists on 9/12/2012.
- Over 100 rounds of lousy golf and fundraising in Las Vegas as our US Embassies are burning are the real priorities now.
