Yes, probably ... but as I read it I thought that the policy extended to Libya as well. It is unclear at this time.

Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition, according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy. This is the same JACKWAD who apologized
to the Muslim Terrorists !! The inmates are running the asylum.
It is time to clear out the "Occupy White House" crowd.

Wiki on Anne Patterson (Ambassador of Egypt)
Remember her face.. They will (hopefully) make a movie about her stupidity to the party (and her personal protection.. lucky she was evacuated before the rush, eh?!) some day.
Stupid socialist ignorant b**ch.

also, I have read some reports that there were Marines at Bengazi and they were part of the firefight, but that it is not yet being reported. If I find corroborating story on it, I will post this.
