Valerie Jarrett gets more armed protection in the US than Ambassador Stevens got in Benghazi!!

Look, Jarrett’s defenders might say, there’s nothing wrong with being powerful. Somebody has to be powerful. And that’s true, but there is something wrong with abusing power. Consider this passage from Becker’s Times piece, describing Jarrett’s ways: “She can also be imperious — at one event ordering a drink from a four-star general she mistook for a waiter—and attached to the trappings of power in a way some in the White House consider unseemly for a member of the staff.” Attached to the trappings of power how, exactly? Here comes the answer: A case in point is her full-time Secret Service detail. The White House refuses to disclose the number of agents or their cost, citing security concerns. But the appearance so worried some aides that two were dispatched to urge her to give the detail up. She listened politely, one said, but the agents stayed. So let’s get this straight: Jarrett gets a security detail from the US Secret Service (USSS). That means 24/7 protection, at a cost of millions of dollars a year. Of course, it also means an air of importance for Jarrett--her own taxpayer-funded entourage. The idea that someone such as Jarrett--who officially plays no role in national security or counter-terrorism--would receive USSS protection would be laughable if it weren’t, in fact, real. It’s like a tale out of the Versailles Court of the Sun King--the sort of anecdote that provokes the peasants, eventually, to revolution. But in the meantime, before the deluge, Jarrett plans to live it up; surrounded by agents with guns, she is queen of her own court. In other words, for pure conspicuous consumption, Jarrett puts her fellow Chicagoan, the laughably self-important Desirée Rogers, to shame.

(Rice) together with National Security Council figure Samantha Power, who already supported military intervention, and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who came to support it, the three overcame internal opposition from Defense Secretary Robert Gates, security advisor Thomas Donilon, and counterterrorism advisor John Brennan, and the administration backed U.N. action to impose the no-fly zone and authorize other military actions as necessary.

Hillary/Power/Rice going against Defense, security advisor, counterterrorism advisor regarding Libya .... what could go wrong?

Can I safely assume that her assortment of body guards and police types are allowed to put bullets in their weapons, unlike our Marine Guards at our embassy in Cairo??

Jarrett was born in Iran.
For real??
I am not being snarky but I did not know that, of course other than knowing that she is a big time Obama suck up I have not paid a whole lot of attention to her.

I mean life is to short to waste one’s time on keeping up with her when you can follow baseball or cook out.

You get the idea.

No, I don’t follow your point. Baseball and Cookout’s are leisure prusuits, but “I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.”

Valerie, why not just stick to the social media where you’re only threatened by the truth sometimes?

We give Egypt $1.5 billion a year. So a few million for the appearance of power for Valerie ...what's the problem? The country's rich.

It's not like the United States is broke or that citizens are out of work or anything like that... It's not like the fed is printing money so fast that the only thing faster is prices going up and the dollar's worth going down. We've got money to burn - ask any democrat...

Let's worry about the big stuff - like should we celebrate the "Arab Spring' next year?

No argument with the quote.

Perhaps I did not do a good job with my statement.

I merely mean that I do not give a fig and a half about Valerie Jarrett. To spend a large amount of time paying attention to her then is required is to waste that time.

She is mixed up and tied to Obama up to her hair roots. Since I hold Obama in minimum high regard (you kind of know what you have with him if you have studied him which unlike Jarrett is a good use of time)and she is an acolyte of him no real reason to spend time on her.

Watching the Brewers vie for that second wild card seems to me to be a better use of time.

It’s been going on since the beginning of Obama’s term..and no one has found out why she is their and why we pay for it. we are entitled to know. She also gets free travel everywhere and I am not too sher she doesnt take airforce one when she goes. All I have everheard is that its the Presidents business she is conducting. Never what business that is.

This is outrageous. Who exactly is Valerie Jarret, where did she come from, is she even a citizen? Why does she wield so much power?

How large is Hillary Clinton’s SS detail?

And NO MARINES at the American Embassy in Libya! Disgraceful!!

What’s wrong with this picture?

Well, after all, she is the president in all but name. She’s also the one who nixed killing Osama bin Laden three times and was finally over-ruled by Bill Daley, who is, you’ll notice, no longer at the White House.
