If he died from smoke inhalation how was he rescued from the building before being badly burned? Who rushed in to save him as there don’t appear to be any emergency personnel in the photos?
It’s hard to believe any of these rioters rushed into buildings that appeared to be totally consumed by fire to save anyone. It appears he had to be dragged out early on.
At issue is what exactly happened. According to tayyar.org, a Lebanese news source (Google translation from Arabic):

The photo at the top of the thread probably shows a Libyan trying to help the ambassador. You don't stick your cell phone in your mouth if you are about to drag a guy through the street.

This was not him ‘confirming’ the death, but letting the public know that the embassy attacks are retribution for the assassination of his deputy.
