The United States does not consider Egypt's Islamist-led government an ally or an enemy, US President Barack Obama said in a television interview aired in full on Thursday.
"I don't think that we would consider them an ally, but we don't consider them an enemy," Obama told Telemundo, a Spanish-language network, on Wednesday after mobs of demonstrators angry over a film they consider blasphemous to Islam assaulted the US embassy in Cairo.
He said the newly formed Egyptian government, which was democratically elected, is trying "to find its way."
If government officials take actions showing "they're not taking responsibility," then it would "be a real big problem," the president said in the interview.
The attack on the embassy in Cairo coincided with attacks on a US consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi that led to the killing of four US diplomats, including the US ambassador.

Get off the fence dumbass!...You can’t vote “present” now!
I’d guess Obama is going to find it harder to find people to become ambassadors... The marines are not allowed to have bullets and they have to depend entirely on the country the embassy is in to protect it. And if you get killed doing your job the President will grovel to the murders who did it all the while making empty threats to do something about it.
Or in short, you life won’t count for much. Particularly if you show the bad timing of dying when a fund raising event is scheduled...
Like Bill Ayers: “Just some guy in the neighborhood.”
Me personally am so glad and feel so good about my self that a majority of America finally just put all logic aside and chose to elect a man strictly on his skin color. Yes the elephant in the room no one wants to talk about in America, reverse racism and ethic bullying by loudmouth leftists. It warms my heart to know we have such an attractive black family in the Whitehouse now, who cares if hes competent, its not about that anymore. He pleases Bill M, Rachael Maddow and Paul Krugman and thats good enough for me and Juan WIlliams
Interestingly, Egypt has the exact same status as Israel when it comes to formal/legal relations with the U.S. Neither of them is an “ally” in the real sense of the word, in that the U.S. has no mutual-defense treaty with either nation except in a very limited, specific case in which either one of them attacks the other (this was one of the provisions of the 1979 peace accords).
