I have followed US politics for a long time. I don't think the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs has ever phoned a private citizen before regarding a free speech matter.

This is a first. We are all finding out how a banana republic works.

The pastor, Terry Jones did not cause any of this. The Muslims did. But since Pastor Jones is a Christian the libs and generals can say all manner of evil against him. After all, a Christian won’t kill us nor does a Christian have feelings.

That said, it doesn’t matter why he did it. A military official should never call a private citizen about anything.

This is especially true in the case of an obscure nutcase who would have been forgotten after that bizarre event a couple of years ago except that Obama keeps it in the public view.

Does anybody know of any precedent for this? The head of the military calling a private citizen to tell him to not to do something?

Well, maybe getting off with just a phone call is a good thing. If Obama gets reelected, they’ll probably just come and haul Jones off to prison - along with a lot of much more modest, completely innocuous folks who have offended Islam simply by breathing. Most of us here will probably be among them.
