September Surprise (Oliver North on Libya & Egypt)

WASHINGTON — The storming of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and the brutal murders of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, produced chaos this week in the so-called mainstream media. Instead of asking about how the heck this could happen in the aftermath of the Obama administration's Arab Spring euphoria, "reporters" started looking for scapegoats.

The potentates of the press first focused their ire on something few of them even had seen — a puerile Internet video titled "Innocence of Muslims" — and then they turned their guns on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. As usual, the O-Team's media cheerleaders got it all wrong.

As Americans in Manhattan, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania participated in solemn ceremonies honoring our nearly 3,000 countrymen killed in the terror attacks 11 years ago, angry crowds were gathering around our embassy in Cairo. The U.S. Embassy responded by issuing an apologetic statement condemning "the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims." Instead of defusing the situation, the crowd swelled and stormed the embassy, tore down the U.S. flag and replaced it with a radical Islamic banner.

Meanwhile, 700 miles west of Cairo, a well-armed Islamist paramilitary force was laying siege to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. By 8:30 p.m. EDT, U.S. and international news services were reporting that Americans had been killed and wounded in Benghazi — without specifying numbers or names. Many reports speculated that the Libyan onslaught was part of a growing "spontaneous" protest against the "Innocence" video.

What are you smoking? Obama could easily turn this in his favor. All he has to do is initiate a military action and his ratings get an automatic boost.

A military action against whom? You have the Yemeni and Libyan governments bending over backwards to apologize to us, and the Egyptian/Muslim Brotherhood government is at least pay some lip service along those lines (in what they put out in English anyways). Including rounding up what are probably a bunch of poor derelicts and presenting the appearance that they're doing "something".

I believe that Obama is too much of an internationalist to try to pull a military action on this anyways. And if he does find some target to reduce to rubble/scraps of bloody tissue he's only going to inflame matters more. He's really backed into a no-win situation here, with the only out being if the protests stop and the protesters suddenly go away.

He doesn’t need a legitimate target. All he needs is to give the idiot voters an excuse to wave their flags and chant “USA USA”. Hell, Clinton bombed an aspirin factory.

I’m praying too, Onyx. We’ve just taken a very dangerous turn in the road. November can’t come soon enough. The transition team will have to be unbelievably strong. And I’m afraid that they will have much to do on their own. Don’t expect a gift wrapped handoff like the departing Bush administration gave 0bama. Pray for our next President and those around him.

You’re right. The best way to defuse an angry mob is to “give them a taste o’ grape”!

Against who? The guy who made the film? Romney headquarters?

I think we all know what's going on with zero, but once he's gone we need to remind people how surprised and clueless Hillary was about the so called "Arab Spring".

I'm no Hildebeast fan, but Obama has been her Boss from Hell. He's tied her up with a killer workload, often running her around to dinky sideshows just to keep her from getting some rest, and he's been back-channeling her all over the place, chopping up her job and giving pieces of it to Richard Holbrook (r.i.p.) and others, and conducting secret diplomacy via his in-house MB guys and Hamas buddies directly with the MB in Egypt, sometimes using Bill Ayers and Code Pink as intermediaries (as during the Gaza "relief flotilla" caper three years ago).

Plus his adoring Hollywood has a big film coming out before the election about Obama’s great feat killing Osama.

OTOH, one of the SEALs has his book, actually a group effort, coming out, and he is very uncomplimentary to Barky. He got a full hour on Sixty Minutes over the weekend -- I was impressed.

No, looks like the SEALs beat Barky to the punch. Not surprising, since that is what SEALs do!

Go Navy!

Now the report comes that he had 48 hours notice of the impending attacks!

And yet, Canada took protective actions the week before - are we getting our intellignece second-hand from them and then ignoring it to help the ZERO save face?

I believe this is the first stage of Nobama eventually declaring martial law and holding off on the election. He will put this country in disarray with some states going forward with the election and others following his orders. Keep watching, only don't get the popcorn out—we will need to protect ourselves from what's coming.

“Gutting our defense budget, Obama’s “apologetic diplomacy,” kowtowing to foreign potentates, abandoning our ally Israel, delaying the installation of ballistic missile defenses and “leading from behind” have not worked. Nor have “harsh sanctions against Iran” deterred the ayatollahs in Tehran from the race to acquire nuclear weapons.”

You may be more right than most believe.

There have been hundreds of things take place since he became “The Won” that are NOT presidential but his actions, or I should say inaction's, in this uprising of radical islamists is beyond belief.

I'm praying we can survive this tyrant.

Hell, Clinton bombed an aspirin factory.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I think all that bought him was a day's delay in the vote on the Articles of Impeachment.

Clinton and the aspirin factory just isn’t that good an analogy. Today’s situation suggests a wag-the-dog to sway an election, while that was an attempt to stave off an impeachment. My point was simply that it didn’t work then. But I fear it might now.
