Vanity: Any FReepers and Tea Partiers in DC? Want to counter-protest at the Egyptian Embassy?
Me | Vanity

Posted on 09/13/2012 6:33:28 PM PDT by ksm1

I'm not in DC, but here's an idea that I had that I wanted to throw out. Coptic Egyptians have been killed in huge numbers by Muslim terrorists over the last few years, and it's been getting worse. They're getting killed by their own countrymen--yet the outrage is over a YouTube video?? Are you kidding me?

Obama is clearly going to do nothing. We all know what his foreign policy is.

If I was in DC, which I am not or otherwise I'd be doing this already, I'd be demonstrating--peacefully of course--against violence towards Coptic Egyptians in front of their embassy in the US, and show that the American people do NOT support the Muslim Brotherhood. I also think it's important in a time like this to show our solidarity with our foreign service officers and the Marines who guard them.

Just my idea. I'm not in DC or in a city with an Egyptian consulate, but if there's an active Tea Party group in that area, food for thought. If Egyptian whackos want to try to burn down an embassy over a YouTube video, we sure as hell can protest the murder of Christians by a radical Islamic government.

What a wonderful idea. Thank you ksm1. I think I’ll go to the NYC Embassy over the weekend.

I don’t get it. Why not protest in front of the White House?

Hold up signs “NO more money to Egypt”

Obama’s the guy that replaced the Egyptian government

A far better thing to do would be to find an Orthodox church tomorrow (Exalatation of the Holy Cross, one of the Great Festivals) and attend the Orthros and Divine Liturgy.

I am VERY concerned about tomorrow, with this Feast coinciding with the Muzzies “Friday Prayers”. They have studied the Christian liturgies and know very well that an attack on a day when millions are singing:

“Save thy people, O Lord, and bless thy inheritance.
Give thy Church victory over her enemies
and protect thy people by thy Holy Cross”

...could be spritually devastating.

I’m Lutheran but I am planning to be with my local Greek Orthodox community tomorrow morning.

Sorry, but what you ask is illegal. You don’t have the right to do that.

Enjoy your prison stay.

I don’t have the money for bail. Lol. Seriously though, are we just going to stand for it when they burn our flag, try to kill our embassy staff, and act like they're entitled to murder over a YouTube video? I am sick of that part of the world acting like an undisciplined child.

They changed the law about demonstrations around, near, on top of, inside, or under embassies way back in Carter days.

That was so Amy would be free of arrest for going down and doing a Farleftwingtard hissy screech at the South African embassy.

I wouldn’t advise it. They’d shoot you dead and claim diplomatic immunity like the Lybians did in London.

An excellent idea. Of course, to follow your advice, folks will want to find an Orthodox Church on the New Calendar -- Greek, Antiochian, OCA (unless you're in Alaska, or very unlucky -- a few OCA parishes in the lower 48 are Old Calendar), Romanian or Bulgarian.

The Russians, Serbs, Georgians, Jerusalem-Patriarchate, and some OCA folk, will be celebrating the Indiction (Ecclesiastical New Year) tomorrow, singing

Lord of the universe who by Thy power hast established the times and seasons,
bless this year with Thy goodness,
preserve our Rulers and keep Thy flock in peace,
through the prayers of the Mother of God, and save us.

instead of the Troparion of the Cross.

I already sang the Troparion of the Cross three times at Vespers -- the only service our little chapel is managing for the Exaltation of the Cross.

And yes, unlike the Troparion of the Cross, which had "Thy Church" or "Thy people" substituted for "Our believing kings" when then Empire fell, the Troparion for the Indiction hasn't been democratized, and we still pray for "our Rulers" when we sing it.

I live in NYC. There’s an Egyptian Embassy and the United Nations. I picket at the UN about their Global Abortion and Euthanasia Agenda. This time I’ll be at the Egyptian Embassy, if I can get near it - if not the UN, I’ll have a sign protesting the murder of Coptic Christians. It’ll all be fortified now the barn doors open as that’s the emptychair way.

Interesting information ~ the Coptic calendar is a tad different and 8 years behind. We know folks who went to an outdoor Coptic New Year's celebration/mass Tuesday evening.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross

That is also today's feast in the traditional Catholic calendar (I don't know about the newer calendar).

For any Catholics in the NYC area, there will be a Solemn High Mass at 6:00 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Innocents (West 37th St. near Broadway).

This is one of the truly catholic (universal) Feasts, and being a fixed date as opposed to being tied to the Paschal cycle it is pretty much universally celebrated today.

The date also appears as a “Lesser Festival” (or “Minor Festival”) on the various Lutheran calendars and as a “Holy Day” on the Episcopal/Anglican calendar, although rare is the congregation which holds a liturgy today unless the 14th coincides with a day of the week when there is a regular liturgy...and that is a tragic omission.

Sounds like a good idea. It may be dangerous though, but Americans need to start standing up to the Muslim Brotherhood and the rest of the Islamists.

Maybe you could set up a time and see how many can make it. It needs to be big enough to get attention. Also is a permit needed?

The press is ignoring all the violence against the Coptic Christians. Some of the few articles on the violence should be taken with you so you can show the ignorant press what this is about.
