So what this author is saying is that all of our lives are not ours and that we are just pieces on a playing board to be used by god. What a disgusting idea. How can a just god punish one man for another’s actions?

I didn’t get that out of the article at all. Perhaps you’re reading into it a bit too much?
I think this author was only linking God to the recent events — voting against God at the DNC, for example — that have opened peoples’ eyes about what Obama is up to.

No, you have free will which is why you are allowed to reject God and mock anybody who doesn’t. Not sure what article you read although it is obvious you believe in moral relativism like most militant atheists.

A: They can't.
That question answers your question. You can writhe and twist all day long, but none of the ways you come up with to deny this have any merit.
