Samuel L. Jackson's 'I Voted for Barack Because He Was Black' a 'Surprising Confession'..
Huffpo ^ | February 12, 2012 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 09/14/2012 8:32:50 AM PDT by yoe

For more than 24 hours, the internet has been abuzz with the New York Post's (revelation) that actor Samuel L. Jackson told Ebony magazine he only voted for Barack Obama in 2008 "because he was black."

For some reason, the folks at the Huffington Post thought this was a ("surprising confession")

Samuel L. Jackson made a surprising confession in the March issue of Ebony.

"I voted for Barack because he was black. Cause that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them," Jackson said, according to the New York Post.

He contended that Obama's message wasn't important, since he believes most politicians will say anything to get elected.

Did author Alana Horowitz find it surprising that a black person would vote for Obama just because of the color of his skin or that someone would actually admit it?

The following sentence suggests the former: "However, (not everyone in the community) thinks race is enough of a reason to vote for Obama."

Not everyone in the community thinks race is enough of a reason to vote for Obama.

Interesting comment given how liberal media outlets like the Huffington Post have been telling people for over three years that any white person that didn't vote for Obama in 2008 was racist.

It should read “I voted for Obama because I was a racist.”

More white people voted for BO than black people. What explains their votes, Samuel Jackson?

Mr. Jackson’s problem is that he sees himself as a black man.

Before this, I had seen him as a man.

Why do people in his community continue to draw lines then scream racism when those lines are recognized?

On 09/11, our nation became one for a few moments.

And then the racists went right back to their business as usual.

When are folks like Samuel L. Jackson going to join the rest of us trying to make sure our nation actually continues on into the future?

Whether YOU WISH Obama were better or not, he isn’t. Reality demands that we either switch directions, or our nation will cease to exist.

So Samuel L. Jackson, what’s your choice?

More white people voted for BO than black people.

Message to those whites: If you voted for Obama to prove that you are not a racist, vote for someone else to prove that you are not a fool.

I couldn’t vote for Obama last time because I happen to look EXACTLY like McCain. Even though I am a much younger lady.

So, if Obama was not black, he would have voted for the Republican?

No, I doubt it. A few people crossed over because he was black, but not that many. Most Obama voters will crawl over glass to vote for the socialist. It made them proud to vote for a black man, they felt like it proved something about themselves, but had he been a black Republican they would still have voted for the socialist whatever color he was.

I used to like him (as an actor), but now I can't bring myself to watch anything he is in.

But, it sure is good to know that Samuel L. would pull the lever for Allen West.

Deliberately they made it into a ‘race war’ - because he could not win on the race on who is BEST for AMERICA!!

Using intimidation to manipulate is a KNOWN tactic from the pit/satan!

Idiots and all those who voted for this commie!

On a related topic, how many Mormons voted Mitt into the nomination just because Mitt is a Mormon?

I'm a white Irish Catholic Bostonian male. However,Condleeza Rice, neither white,Irish,Catholic (I assume),Bostonian *nor* male would represent me,and my beloved country, far, far,*far* better than John Kerry or Ted Kennedy could even dream of doing.

I judge the content of one's character...Samuel L Jackson just looks at the color of the skin.

What an excellent, well-expressed point that applies to so many in acting and music! I shall endeavor to give you credit every time I repeat it.

Cowgirl of Justice said: "Mr. Jackson’s problem is that he sees himself as a black man. Before this, I had seen him as a man."

Sydney Poitier as John in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"(1967), speaking to his father: "But you think of yourself as a colored man. I think of myself as a man."

Unfortunately, the only way that a black socialist can get elected today is to appeal to the racists in their own following and to accuse conservatives of racism for anything they do or support. With the help of the liberal media, it works.

Actually Samuel L Jackson is lying, he voting for Barack Obama because he was a democrat and he was black.

Samuel L Jackson wouldn’t vote for Allen West in a million years.

If you heard Glen Beck bawling like a baby over the fact that a Mormon was nominated for POTUS, you know that there will be plenty of Mormons in that category.

I suspect Mormons voted for Romney because he represents their standards and values.

Another Mormon, Harry Reid, gets a far smaller share of the Mormon vote.

No, that's not fair. Obama played to this -- from a black point of view, the election of a black-looking guy should have signified the end of mental slavery.

the problem is, that they got the wrong "black" guy - a half-white, half-African Moslem communist

I don't blame them so much for 2008 -- the urge to vote for someone who looked like them would be hard to resist -- only the extremely strong willed (conservative blacks) would dig in deeper to find out more about Obama

And that's NOT ONLY BLACKS who did this -- many whites voted for O for how he looked (and not just the color of his skin, but many voted as they thought he looked nice -- really, i've heard lib women say that)

I repeat -- I don't blame the folks who voted for 0 in 2008 for how he looked, but NOW, 4 years later, I consider anyone who votes for 0 to be a complete moron, or a traitor, or both.
