CNN’s headline is “Protesters Breach Embassy in Tunisia.”
That chant confirms it has nothing to do with the movie and everything to do with perceived weakness.
I have been to the Embassy in Tunis. Back then it was a very European, cosmopolitan city. It was one of the better vacations we have taken.
Patton knew how to deal with Tunisia.
My sister lives in France and regularly vacations in Tunisia; it is to the French what Florida is to Canadians. This will be VERY bad for business there.

I have a good friend at The Agency who has told me that if I want to know what is actually going on overseas watch BBC and AlJezeera. Don’t believe any American source to be accurate or truthful. And lately, like in the last six months that seems to apply to sourcing American domestic news as well.
Maybe about the 15th hole? Almost done, ready to get to a big cheeseburger, fries, and a couple beers (psst, don’t tell Michelle!).

MSNBC cut away from the White Daily Briefing disaster mid-way through, and CNN is too busy trying to blame the film-maker, and not Obama’s foreign policy.
Al Jazeera is a legitimate news network with a pro-Islam bias. You could think of them as the CNN of the middle east.
When I was in Egypt earlier this year I got better news from them than I did from the CNN feed. They were a bit selective in what they chose to show, but the programming was much more interesting than I could get anywhere else.

Not so. A number of these “reporters” are agents for al-Quada, and the Israelis have arrested them. Al Jazerra is person non grata in a number of Middle Eastern countries.

Best vacation of my life was when I spent two weeks in Tunisia. Loved the country and the people. Spent time in Tunis and you are right, a very cosmopolitan city. The US Embassy was sponsering a weeklong event based on the life and writings of Mark Twain. I will never forget the lines of Tunisians waiting to see the speakers. But then again, this was in the eighties, when American values were celebrated and not disavowed and apologized for.
That’s correct. How can Carney even say with a straight face even now after it is common knowledge it was planned 9/11 attacks, and the chant, “Obama, Obama, we are a million Osamas” how that in any way is even remotely connected toward that scapegoate of a movie.
We stayed in a place called Souse (sp?) We were stationed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (the true definition of a sh@thole). Tunisia was the complete opposite of any middle east country I had ever been to We went to Egypt as well. We knew then Islam would be an issue, in 1982, but it took 911 to wake the rest of America up..

I don’t want to be mean or anything, but our p.c. government officials just got an ambassador and three others murdered over in Libya. The CIA was sympathic to communism as they are to radical islam today (if we are nice to them, they won’t kill us in this war) and they got the collapse of the Soviet Union wrong, too.
Our intellegence services don’t know what they heck they are doing and they are full of anti-American liberal activists. Our government has even named American vets, constitutionalists and the Tea Party as the real domestic terrorists to worry about.
They are totally infiltrated.

For the same reason you would not trust the news sources infiltrated by the KGB as your fact finder during the cold war. But our feeble CIA cozied up to “moderate” leftists during the cold war and were misled and infiltrated.
Looks like they are still doing it. AlJazeera is infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood, a radical Islam group the CIA has named “moderate.” So you can believe a certain amount of information as true, but can also count on being misled by other key information presented. Islam is at war with the US but the US is pretending they are not at war with Islam. :(
Of course I wouldn’t place absolute trust in them. They have their bias and point of view, and being islamic I’m sure they’re riddled with terrorist sympathizers.
But as I mentioned up thread, they were more useful when I was in Egypt than the CNN feed was. They showed what was going on in the region while CNN was having stupid special reports about nothing.
I did notice, and I found it interesting, that none of the news outlets reported on anything that could cause a problem for tourism while I was there. I found out from family back home that two Americans and their tour guide were kidnapped; neither AlJazeera nor CNN reported that.
I found out what was really happening in Tahrir Square from our tour guide, who had friends on the ground there, and from AlJazeera’s live reporting and interviewing of people in the Square. CNN couldn’t be bothered.
I’m sad to see the images on TV of places I visited not that long ago. I wouldn’t dare go back now. :-(
