Yesterday evening, shortly before 8:00 PM, Louisiana State Police troopers, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Louisiana National Guard were assigned to security at the DSNAP (Disaster Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program) location in St. John the Baptist Parish, 1929 West Airline Highway, LaPlace, LA. A claims processor alerted law enforcement to a male subject who became irate when his claim was denied. The subject was observed going to his vehicle and retrieving an object. Law enforcement personnel quickly responded and subdued the subject who was in possession of a fully loaded AR-15 assault rifle. Officers disarmed the subject and placed him under arrest. Another handgun and numerous loaded ammunition magazines were located.

Alinsky always targeted people with nothing left to lose. He knew they would do anything...including murder...to get ahead.

Reminds me of some of my rant on why I prep:

You either prepare and stand on your own beholden to no one or you become dependent on others to provide your basic needs and become thier‘serf’. Me I don’t want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly don’t want to have to kiss some ‘gubberment’ third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I don’t want some ‘jack booted’ thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I don’t want to be shut up in with a bunch of ‘zombies’ and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.

Anyone have a cheap online source for PVC pipe fittings?
I have an idea in mind for a cold frame made of PVC and I’m thinking of needing a bunch of T’s and 45’s and 90’s. Maybe a few 3-ways.

I would guess that 70% of the drivers in this area have loaded weapons in their vehicles since it is legal to do so. From all the reports I’ve seen, there was no indication he was going to take a weapon into the building.

Probably an unemployed teacher. AR-15s are expensive.

Within a couple of years, the market will be flooded with cheap, used firearms sold by laid off government/NGO employees (austerity programs on the way). Yes, there will probably be increases in crimes committed by the rare, unemployed kooks under a little pressure. Look at the bizarre/evil behaviors of some in their offices, while they’re employed.

Unemployed from their official perches, a few of them will simply divert for short durations to committing the types of crimes that are prosecutable (thefts, robberies, kidnappings). Others will only try to sell phony products and run other con games. As for the poor, unemployed from the shrinking private sector, ah, most of ‘em have learned to live poor and have less mobility to commit crimes, especially with high and rising fuel prices.

Rain here, so the mud brick oven is on hold, covered with a tarp.

The rain did give me a chance to do real-world testing on the mud brick test articles, both exposed and plastered.

Of course, the plain sun-dried mud brick is looking a little fuzzy around the edges. 3 more days of rain, and it will be a mud puddle.

The plaster mix coated test article is doing just fine.

The limewash does get a little soft in the rain, but it doesn't wash away.
