The Scariest Jobs Chart EVER
Business Insider ^ | August 3, 2012 | Joe Weisenthal

With the unemployment rate ticking higher, and the pace of job creation still at a pathetically low rate (by historical standards), we're compelled to revisit this chart.

It's put together every monthly by Bill McBride at Calculated Risk, and it shows the trajectory of job losses in all of the various post-WWII recessions. This current recession (and recovery) is the bright red line.

As you can see, the downtrend was far worse than anything else we'd seen since WWII, and the rise is far more meager than anything else we had seen.

You mean the jobless recovery, grow from the middle out, isn’t working?
Must be Bush’s fault.

I'd love to see a chart that starts earlier.

How does now compare to The Great Depression?

Ya know the worst part, he has to be doing it on purpose.... there is no way that he hasn’t seen this data.

Everyone knows how to fix this - he is trying to weaken the U.S., and it is amazing that anyone who wants to live in this country would consider voting for this guy.

“Everyone knows how to fix this”

Yeah, and it has taken this long for them to get to QE3. But things will be getting better soon. Heck - the stock market is near record highs. Happy days are here again! /s

Celebrate now! Shortly, your loaf of bread is going to be $100 and your tank of gas $5,000. And your measly savings earning 0.5% will be worthless.

This is a massive wealth-redistribution program, with the middle class being reduced to peasants. All of the small businesses that have closed will re-open with minority/women owners (using government loans/grants targeting such groups), while higher education will be closed to white males (moreso than it already is).

Obama promised (nay, “threatened”) to “fundamentally transform” America, and he has succeeded. It will take a long time (if it is even possible) to get back to where we were four years ago (in legal, cultural, anb economic terms).

“It will take a long time (if it is even possible) to get back to where we were four years ago “

It will never go back all the way.... The essence of change is that it happens slowly. If it tries to go to fast you will get chaos, and then it will reverse course - but it maintain some elements of the change.

You can see this phenomena is everywhere you look.

The dems pushed too far left so alot of their policies will be reversed in the next cycle but some of the regulations will stand. Reagan had the best balance of all presidents, he slowly nudged the country to the right.... and his policies worked and stuck. Bush’s administration was good too.

These people we have now are just stupid.

“These people we have now are just stupid.”

You’re right, but they vote.

At this point the country may make a left turn legally, but the divide between the left & right is growing (and permanent). The Catholic Church (despite the political fumbles) and the Boys Scouts of America have sent a strong message that homosexuality is not acceptable, and the Church at least will never waver from that position. I’d imagine 90% of the “replacement Americans” arriving daily in our country agree, and libs barely reproduce.

You’re right, but they vote.

Or somebody "votes" them...often in multiple states.
