“Just think of how high it would be if Barry and the ‘RATS weren’t running this joint.” - DNC talking point.

Gas prices were up there when W was president, too. W is also the one who started the trend of Big Government, Big Bailouts, and a crashing dollar, which affects gas prices. He also came up with the idiotic idea of burning our food as fuel.

More excuses for Barack Hussein Obama? You really think W started all of this? What, are you 10?

With Obama’s failed policies in the Mideast, and QE3 at home, expect oil prices to reach $5+ per gallon by election day, if not sooner.

Change you can see (and have flying out of your bank account).

Ad (with appropriate graphics):

Narrator: Back in 2008, Barack Obama promised he would bring change - and change he has. When Obama took office, gas prices were $1.84 a gallon - now that’s changed to $3.84 a gallon - more than doubled - hitting the middle and working class the hardest. Obama has deliberately blocked construction of the keystone pipeline and blocked drilling for our own sources of oil, while at the same time giving away $20 billion to help Brazil drill for oil that we will have to end up buying from them. Barack Obama...delivering change. (The Republican National Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising).

Why would that not be an effective ad - hello out there to any super pacs, RNC, Romney campaign, etc. - make this into an ad...you can make a series of them using gas prices as a theme, then another with the deficit, debt, unemployment rate, etc.

So where is Hugo Chavez to rescue us? When gas hit $2.50 a gallon under Bush he “rescued” our poor with affordable gasoline and heating oil! Guess our fellow socialist doesn’t need his help.

You really think W started all of this?

Yes, he started it and Obama has continued down the same path. Just saying the obvious, that Obama sucks, isn't necessarily going to get another Big Government, Socialist Republican elected.

I believe Obama’s goal was to get our gas to $5.00 per gallon.

I thought it was (only) $5. He’s almost there, but if he stays another 4, he’s sure to reach his goal of $8 - $10 / gal.

Gas prices were up there when W was president, too.

When gas prices peaked during the Bush years, oil had gone up to around $150 a barrel. Oil is around $100 a barrel now.

W is also the one who started the trend of Big Government, Big Bailouts, and a crashing dollar, which affects gas prices.

Bush was more big government than I prefer, but the Bush bailouts (TARRP) have mostly been paid back with interest. BTW, I don't agree with his bailouts either, but this crash and the bailouts occurred after the Dems took Congress.

He also came up with the idiotic idea of burning our food as fuel.

That's like saying Al Gore invented the Internet. Ethanol was in use long before Bush became President. In fact, the Model T could run on it.

It hasn't worked out is a matter of opinion (I'll admit I'm disappointed because I agree it hasn't so far), but it's not as idiotic as instigating a coup of the Iranian government in 1953 in order to keep oil prices low. Take away all of the blood that has been spilled for cheap oil, and what do gas prices look like?
