While the Obama administration says there was no actionable intelligence that could have prevented the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, there was a heightened threat in the region due to at least four attacks on diplomatic and western targets leading up to the murder of the U.S. ambassador.
"This (the U.S. Consulate) was a place that was targeted months before with an IED (improvised explosive device)," Congressman Mike Rogers, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who has been briefed on the attack and investigation, told Fox News. "It's clearly a target that they wanted to hit and they wanted to cause casualties. I find it -- a little the glaring question of a 9/11 date. It's just too many coincidences here."

What FReepers should remember is we have a country run by lawyers and the language of government is the language of lawyers. The Ivy League lawyers love to weave words and the difference between a lie and the truth is merely a hairsbreadth.
“Actionable” is a legal word. Look it up. Normal people would say, “We didn’t have any information that we could act on.” When I hear lawspeak I am instantly suspiciuos and skeptical.
To say, “We had no actionable intelligence” is to say that our lawyers didn’t think it was important. It didn’t meet a legal threshold - wholly subjective, of course.
I went back thru 25 Google pages, and the only reference I found to Canada closing its Libyan embassy before the attack the other day, was back in Feb 2011.
It wasn’t planned in a day... Zawahiri said back in April that the place was on his hit list.
trebb, Canada threw Iranian diplomats out of Canada and closed down their own embassy in Tehran. Someone here had Iran confused yesterday with Libya and I think you may have run across that mistaken post.

The Ambassasdor was in the middle of being taken from the Embassy to a nearby compound which was thought to be 'safer', because the Embassy was under attack. Stories of the Ambassador suffering smoke inhalation and dying in the Embassy are total fiction.
It was during this trip that the convoy was ambushed by two squads of 10 mean each, equipped with RPG's and Automatic Weapons, who killed the Marines, the ex-Navy Seal, several civilians and the Ambassador. Except for the Libyan Security Escort, No one had ammo for their weapons. The Libyan Security Escort either ran, or filmed the attack on their cellphones. It was a professional hit and the 20 men were former 'terrorist' prisoners who had been released and recruited by Zawahiri and the Al Queda. (which is just a label, like all the others, for ORGANIZED CRIME). Significant 'benefits' were offered to the HIT SQUAD , such as new SUV's.

1. They first fired rockets at the consulate building on the assumption that the ambassador’s bodyguards would grab him, race him out of the building and drive him to a safe place under the protection of the US secret service;
2. The second group was able to identify the getaway vehicle and the ambassador’s armed escort and lay in wait to ambush them. The gunmen then closed in and killed the ambassador and his bodyguards at point blank range.
