Sudan rejects US request to send Marines to secure embassy (Why are we "requesting"?)

Sudan has rejected an offer by the United States to send Marines to increase security at the U.S. embassy in Khartoum, amid protesters and police clashing.

The announcement Saturday follows the United States saying it was sending Marines to Sudan to bolster security at the embassy, where Sudanese police reportedly fired on protestors trying to scale the compound walls.

“Sudan is able to protect the diplomatic missions in Khartoum and the state is committed to protecting its guests in the diplomatic corps,'' Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti told the state news agency SUNA, which Reuters reported Saturday.

As a result, the deployment has been delayed and possibly curtailed, said a U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to disclose details on the troop movement.

Why are we "requesting"?

It's what you do in rotation with "apologizing".

Why are we "requesting"?

Because we've been knocked down a few notches... quite a few actually. How much longer of Obama can we take before our troops end up like the Soviet troops, without money and thumbing a ride back to the states from all the places in the world they were stationed?

Iran and North Korea are watching this comedy show.

To the world it looks like - we're done - toast - another Holland.

Thanks Obama

We are requesting because Sudan is a sovereign country. We should just remove our people and not put them at risk. We are already removing non-essential personnel from Sudan. In the past we had an ambassador killed in Sudan. It is still a very dangerous place.

U.S. taxpayers gave them something like $500 million last year. We have been throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into that Muslim rat hole since the 1950s. Time to pull the plug.

The world is on fire. Lets wait on proper approvals then go in and pick up the bodies. That is the Hillary way.

The Sudanese government may think some of their citizens are planning on seizing the U.S. embassy.

Obama is such an international joke, he has to go begging on his knees to the bug-eating dictators of Sudan in order to keep our personnel safe. It’s no surprise. It’s still fresh in my memory, seeing Obama kowtowing to the tin pot tyrants in Latin America. If the president can be forced to bend to the will of Hugo Chavez and the plastic queen of Argentina, prepare to be told what we can and can’t do by some of the lowest filth Africa has to offer.

Allen West was right. The admin is pathetic.

“Sudan rejects US request to send Marines to secure embassy”

Fine. Pull the embassy contingent. Get the “H” out of there until relations can be restored if they can. We don’t need them.

Our embassy is sovereign territory too and short of pulling every single American out, our Marines maybe their only defense.

So when do the U.S. Marines need an invite? It is time to just send them in and do the job!

My reply on another thread;

“Close our embassy. Kick their diplomats out of the US. Don’t give any of them visas to come to the UN. Stop all flow of our money to them. I don’t care if their kids don’t wear shoes! That’s their problem! None of my tax money should be sent there! I’m losing ground rapidly here!”

Obama and Hillary want to send in the Marines to protect the embassy with rocks. No bullets allowed.

Our soil! Our people! Why request? Obozo is a useless piece of whale dung at the bottom of the ocean!

I pray for all the Marines that this administration has put in harm’s way. There was a Freeper a few days ago that said their son was on a team that might be called in to defend embassies in the Middle East. Does anyone know if he is alright? That’s all I have been able to think about since all these riots have broken out.

Bogus, my dear, we are two hearts that beat as one on this issue. No more money, and all of them — diplomats and otherwise — have to leave our soil. No more of them can enter our country. With all the money we have given them, their kids should have Imelda Marcos-class shoe collections. They and their thieving, corrupt, blood-thirsty country can all go to hell. One of the few places in the world where slavery still exists.

We need proper approvals. If we want the Marines to go in and get our people out withot the government of Sudan's approval, you do that but it will mean severing diplomatic relations. The Sudanese government was protecting our Embassy. I watched their military and police beating back the mobs with clubs.

The Marines are sent in to augment host country security, not to replace it. We have to make a decision and say if you don't approve, then we will order our Embassy closed and demand that the Sudanese Embassy in Washington be closed or at least the Ambassador sent home.

LOL. Our Embassy exists in Khartoum with the approval of the Sudanese government. We don't force countries to have an American Embassy. It is reciprocal when you decide to have diplomatic relations with another country.

If we pull out completely, it is up to the host government to respect our property. Usually, if we terminate relations with a country, we designate another country to represent our interests or in certain cases we will locate US diplomats in another courtry's embassy and set up a US interest section.
