Obama Polling Worse Among Jews Than Any Dem in 32 Years

Daniel Greenfield

You have to go all the way back to Jimmy Carter in 1980 to find a Democratic candidate who’s polling worse among Jews than Obama is. And that’s no coincidence. Carter scored big numbers against Ford in 1976 only to lose a major chunk of Jewish supporters after four years of pro-Terrorist policies that undermined Israel and security and stability in the Middle East.

Obama reportedly scored 76 percent of the Jewish vote in 2008. Carter picked up 71 percent in 1976. By 1980, Carter was down to 45 percent. The latest polls show Obama down to 59 percent among Jews.

No Democrat has ever won the White House with that low a share of the vote. The Democratic candidates who scored that low, Carter in 1980, Dukakis, Mondale, McGovern, Adlai Stevenson, were all losers who went on to lose the election. To find a Democratic presidential candidate who won less than 60 percent of the Jewish vote and still won the White House, you have to go back 96 years to the election of 1916 where Woodrow Wilson had 55 percent of the Jewish vote against 45 percent for Republican Chris Evans Hughes. And that was considered a very close election.

The Jewish vote does not determine elections, but it is a sign of the loss of support. Romney is taking a Reagan sized bite of the Catholic vote and is within 4 percent of matching Reagan’s numbers among Jews.

Mark Alan Siegel resigned on Friday, a day after he apologized for the remarks he had made two days earlier during an interview on the sidelines of the Democratic National Convention.

[snip]

Siegel had told the conservative Patriot Update website that as a Jew, he was "not a fan of any religion other than Judaism." Asked if he is a fan of Christianity, Siegel responded, according to the Palm Beach Post, "No, I'm not. The Christians just want us to be there so we can be slaughtered and converted and bring on the second coming of Jesus Christ."

He continued, “They’re not our friends. They want Israel to pursue policies which are antithetical with its security and existence. The worst possible allies for the Jewish state are the fundamentalist Christians, who want Jews to die and convert so they can bring on the second coming of their Lord. It is a false friendship. They are seeking their own ends and not ours.”

I’m Jewish, and I can explain it you very simply.

When the Jews lived in Europe, they went through periods where they were left alone and allowed to prosper, as well as periods where they were severely persecuted. This happened in practically every European country for a period of close to 2,000 years.

The pattern of Jewish migration in Europe started out as south to north (Spain, Italy and Southern France, then working their way up to Germany, England, Holland, etc), and then west to east, eventually winding up in places like Poland, the Ukraine, and Romania.

The Jews have always prided themselves on being educated and cultured. And when they lived in the big cities of Western Europe, many of their best friends and staunchest defenders were intellectuals. But when they found themselves in the boondocks of Eastern Europe, they felt uncomfortable there.

The vast majority of Jewish Americans are the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of Eastern European immigrants who fled the pogroms. So the most recent memory of antisemitism for Jewish Americans is stories that were passed down to them about how they were persecuted by the religious, rural, nationalistic, blond haired, blue eyed redneck Slavs from the sticks of Eastern Europe.

So when these Jewish immigrants came to America, they had an inherent distrust for the rural, religious, nationalistic, blond haired, blue eyed WASPs living in the American heartland. On top of that, most of these Jews lived in big cities like New York, Chicago, Philly, etc, where they were overjoyed to be around other ethinc minority groups like Blacks and Italian Catholics.

So they figured “if we’re nice to them, maybe they’ll be nice to us, and they’ll protect us from those hillbillies with their country music and their guns and pick up trucks.

In other words, the Jews are loyal to the Democrats based on a combination of elitism and fear that’s based on their ancestor’s experiences in Europe. There’s a Yiddish expression....”goyishakop”. It means the face of a non-jew. You will never hear a Jewish American refer to a Black person or a Latino or an Italian or an Asian as a goyishakop, even though none of them are Jewish. Goyishakop is reserved strictly for Nordic and Slavic looking people, as these are the people that these Jews foolishly live in fear of.

Re “Jewish people and the Democrats who crap on them.”

It’s the leftist version of the “trickle-down theory” but in this case, they crap on those below, including the dupes and dumbos of my faith who blindly believe their marxist propaganda. Also, they have tremendous guilt complexes for being successful.

I have friends who had legitimate guilt complexes because they survived Auschwitz while other family members and friends died. At least this complex was legitimate. Liberals have nothing to be guilty about but they fall for the leftist anti-free enterprise propaganda and want a “level playing field.”

“Nevermind the Jews. How could any clear thinking, tax paying, human vote for this man?”

They don’t. The ones who do vote for Obama are NOT thinking clearly and/or they don’t pay taxes.

I always like to end my day with something positive. (It helps me sleep better.) This is about as positive as it gets. Good night.

American Jews are ultra-liberal. Most of them, especially the young ones, really don’t care about the homeland or Bibi Netanyahu.

I’m not Jewish, have never been to Israel, yet I care very much about what happens to Israel. Perhaps it is because I am older and am very much aware of what happened during WWII. The Jewish people have earned everything they have with their blood. They have my respect.

>> We currently have a president who clearly sympathizes with nations who wish to wipe Israel (and Jews) off the face of the earth. A president who had no time to speak with the Prime Minister of Israel in a time of grave crisis, yet has time to do the Letterman show and yuk it up with radio DJs (i.e. Pimp with a Limp) and yet apparently 59% of Jews are still voting for the guy! Somebody needs to explain this to the rest of us. <<

Allow me to explain. Over 50% of Jews identify as "secular" That means they identify as "Jewish" for "cultural reasons", they were born into a Jewish family, their ancestors came from Jewish communities, etc. The percentage Jews who have a "secular" outlook and marry outside their faith is far higher than the U.S. population as a whole. They do NOT practice the religion or Judaism and as concern about Israel as New Yorkers are about Texas. The only thing they worship is abortion and gay marriage.

This is because alot of republicans support israel for biblical reasons such as Revelations. Believing in this ultimately is insulting to Jewish people since you are saying that after Armageddon and Israel triumphs, Jesus will return and lift believers to heaven, incinerating everyone else (Jews included). So if I support Israel now for this reason, then it is logical for a Jewish person to infer that I am doing so for the return of the Messiah and ultimately the incineration of all Jews who do not accept him.
Im not shocked that many Jewish people do not support the Republican party.

How Islamist Pandering Led to the Consulate Attack

"The more of a look we get at the situation in Benghazi, the more we can see the basic failures in the chain of command that allowed this to happen.

1. The Benghazi consulate was apparently a temporary site set up during the US backed rebellion against Gaddafi, possibly to coordinate with local rebels, and had no real security, just a fallback safe house, which was not all that much more secure.

The common drive of Islamist and non-Islamist rebels to remove Gaddafi and the crucial US role in coordinating with them would have been enough to keep the consulate secure during the rebellion, but once the rebellion ended maintaining this kind of facility was clearly a bad idea and it should have either been abandoned or replaced with a properly fortified facility. The State Department wastes fortunes on all sorts of ridiculous projects, if they had, for whatever reason, wanted to continue maintaining a Benghazi facility, they should have kept staff out until it was reinforced.

2. Benghazi is a flash point in the ongoing Libyan civil war, it was not safe or secure by any stretch of the imagination. There was ongoing violence and regular shootings, including the use of heavy weaponry.

The lack of Marine guards was likely due to the feeling that they would be provocative, but this was clearly the kind of “soft power” thinking that has gotten Obama into trouble before. Local security proved to be completely useless and inept in the face of a real assault and the consulate had no fallback plan beyond a safe house.

Had Al Qaeda chosen to launch the kind of truck bombing that they had carried out elsewhere in Africa the casualties would have been far worse.

3. Government security forces had been infiltrated by Islamists, even members of the Libyan government had and have admitted it in the past. The Safe House was exposed by Libyan security forces, which is why they should have never have been given that information at all. But that did not appear to concern anyone in the loop, even though it was widely known beforehand. Did the Consulate think that the security forces that turned on Libyan Sufis would be any better when it came to them?

The unfortunate conclusion that has to be drawn from all this is that in all three instances, pandering to Islamists helped lead to the consulate attack. The consulate should not have remained in Benghazi with poor security relying on local goodwill. Islamists have no goodwill to rely on. Not once their short term goals have been met.

The State Department’s approach to the Benghazi consulate seemed to be more concerned with offending Islamists by building up a fortified consulate and using Marines for security, than with implementing actual security measures to protect its staff. And those security measures should have taken into account the Islamist presence in the Libyan security forces, rather than assuming that those forces were still friendly.

The failure to anticipate Islamist hostility and the assumption that Islamist hostility could be warded off with a low profile and soft power led to the Benghazi Consulate being seen as a soft target. And the attack naturally followed." [end]

I appreciate your explanation. Many of my Evangelical Christian coreligionists are baffled as to why Jewish people are so suspicious of them despite the fact that they are strongly pro-Israel and do not have an anti-Semitic bone in their body.

They simply do not realize how the the Jewish history of antisemitism in Europe causes them to be suspicious of, as you say, white Nordic "Christians."

From our perspective, we feel we have little in common with that sordid aspect of European history and those who perpetrated the persecution of Jewish people.

One hopes that more and more Jewish people would come to realize that Evangelical Christians and others such as Pentecostal/Charismatics are among the strongest supporters of Israel and the Jewish people.

This support is based on the belief that the Jewish people are God's chosen people and that Christianity is deeply rooted in the Jewish faith. Fundamental theological differences do not alter this deep-rooted love and respect for the Jewish people on the part of many.
