The Arab One-Way Street

By Mr. Curmudgeon:

The Los Angeles media was camped outside the Southern California home of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a.k.a Sam Bacile, when L.A. County Sheriffs Deputies arrived on the scene. Nakoula is the filmmaker who uploaded a teaser for his magnum opus "Innocence of Muslims" that sparked riots outside U.S. embassies across the Arab World, and was the pretext for the murder of America's Libyan envoy John Christopher Stevens and three others.

"We waited for days for this to happen," said reporter Dave Mecham of L.A. television station KTLA 5, "... as much of the world has ...," he added.

Mecham informed an anxious world that deputies escorted Nakoula to a "nearby sheriff's station for questioning. From there, a voluntary interview with federal probation officials."

According to the report, Nakoula was convicted for bank fraud in 2009 and federal agents were investigating whether the filmmaker violated the terms of his five-year probation. Could it be that Eric Holder's Justice Department wants to put on a fast and furious show trial to appease the Arab Street?

At any rate, Nakoula was released after questioning, much to the disappointment of the media camped outside his front door.

The crime is too horrible to describe, but here goes: According to the Associated Press, Nakoula is alleged to have employed a fictitious user name (who does that?) when he opened his YouTube account. He compounded this atrocity by uploading the trailer to his film.

A law-and-order blogger at the lefty website Daily Kos was outraged. "Based on this, hopefully Nakoula will be in an orange jumpsuit sometime next week. It looks like an open-and-shut probation violation ... Nakoula should be on his way back to prison."

The blogger's name is "Christian Dem in NC." That's an unusual name, don't you think?

Anyway, armed with the film's title, I headed to YouTube to view the evidence for myself.

At first, I thought the trailer was an outtake from an old Monty Python skit: Men (Muslims) dressed in flowing robes and headscarves, with obviously pasted-on beards, running down dirt streets in what appears to be an old-west town, committing atrocities while speaking English in various American idioms.

The film is not very subtle in hiding its contempt for Islam: It depicts the Prophet Muhammad as an insane, womanizing, homosexual-endorsing bandit that sells little children into slavery. Oh, and there's a donkey.

In one scene, a man dressed like a Druid announces, "I will make a book for him [Muhammad]. It will be a mix between some versions of ... from the Torah and some versions from the New Testament, and mix them into false verses." Like I said, the film lacks subtlety.

The acting is bad, the script is, well, bad, the costumes ... are bad as well. However, when you put all its various elements together ... it's just plain bad.

That's when the weight of the crime struck me. Not Nakoula's choice of an anonymous YouTube user name or that he uploaded his lousy video to the Internet. That thousands, if not millions, of people across the Arab World are willing to take time out of their lives to riot and murder fellow human beings over a turkey.

It doesn't make much sense to the modern, civilized mind. That's because worrying about getting everybody to submit to your world view is the domain of hyperactive, busy-body cranks - like professional law student and Democratic Party darling Sandra Fluke.

Normal people would never have noticed a low budget, funny, 13-minute Youtube video. And if they did, normal people would either laugh it off or switch to a different YouTube channel.

But then, cranks obsessed with everyone submitting aren't normal. If they were, they wouldn't kill people over silly 13-minute Youtube videos or demand that the nation's taxpayers provide them free contraception. That's just plain psychotic.

What does it say about an administration that spends so much time denouncing, possibly prosecuting, the silly to placate the psychotic?

This is what happens when a government attempts to make alliances with those who don't share our values of freedom, decency and psychological well-being. Placating our excitable new "friends" requires that we pretend their psychotic episodes are understandable; that those who trigger these episodes should be taken in for questioning by Sheriffs Deputies or prosecuted by the feds.

I later switched from YouTube and surfed my way to WebMD. Tina Tessina, PhD, a marriage and family therapist, has just the definition for the Obama administration's fatal attraction to the Arab Spring.

"Codependency, by definition, means making the relationship more important to you than you are yourself," says Dr. Tessina, "It's kind of a weird phrase, and it doesn't sound like it means a one-sided relationship. But that's what it is. It means you're trying to make the relationship work with someone else who's not."

In other words, the Arab Street is one-way, their way, only. Obama has opened himself up to a world of heartache.

A film of similar quality lampooning Christianity - especially Catholicism - would win the Cannes “Palme d’ Or”, not to mention one or more Oscars ....

So says the author. For Mohammed's sake, it's a silly YouTube video (do Muslims say "for Mohammed's sake", like we say...). As for the storyline, I say good job. Islam is not a peaceful religion, and should be lampooned. There are lots of badly filmed movies on YouTube, but normal human beings don't torture and kill others about it. Just the savages do that, and that's the point of the movie.
