Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Sunday that Iran was just six to seven months away from being able to build a nuclear bomb, adding urgency to his demand that President Barack Obama set a clear "red line" for Tehran in what could deepen the worst U.S.-Israeli rift in decades.
Taking to the television airwaves to make his case directly to the American public, Netanyahu said that by mid-2013, Iran would be 90 percent of the way toward enough enriched uranium for a bomb. He urged the United States to spell out limits that Tehran must not cross if it is to avoid military action - something Obama has refused to do.
"You have to place that red line before them now, before it's too late," Netanyahu told NBC's "Meet the Press" program, saying that such a U.S. move could reduce the chances of having to attack Iran's nuclear sites.

Neyanyahu has come to the realization that Mr. Obama will never allow Israel to attack Iran before the election. What he is beginning to realize is that if Obama is elected to a second term, he will not allow an attack even then. Obama will instruct the Israelis that Israel and Iran will simply have to enjoy the terrifying peace of mutually assured destruction. Will Netanyahu accept this? Or will he, the Prime Minister of Israel and the secular leader and defender of the Jewish people take definitive action?
The danger of Iran getting the bomb has much broader implications in the region. No doubt Saudi Arabia will seek nuclear weapons to counterbalance the Iranians, whom the Saudis fear much more than the Israelis. It will lead to proliferation and instability. Containment is not an option.

Mutually assured destruction (MAD) only works if all sides involved are NOT crazy.

You're right, The Antiyuppie - it works if both sides want to live in this world at this time. Doesn't work with people who want to die in order to get into paradise.... Consider the following:

Netanyahu was a commando and special forces in the Israeli Army. He has been shot in the line of duty. His brother was killed in Uganda leading the successful raid at Entebe to rescue mostly Israeli hostages held in a hijacking.
Netanyahu has seen the blood of his fellow soldiers, he has seen his dead comrades in arms, he has seen his own blood as well as that of his dead brother. Men like this do not go to war unless there is no other option. Men like this when they do go to war will prosecute the war with all their abilities to defeat the enemy.
It would not take many nukes to destroy Israel as a functioning society and nation. I see no options for Israel except a conventional war at this time. If they wait it will be a nuclear war.
If it goes nuclear, Israel has the ability to destroy her enemies even after suffering a first strike by her enemies. Many millions will die.
Israel will not go quietly in the night.
Go Israel.
Wipe these vermin off the face of the earth.
