Voters Reject Representative David Torissi – Voter ID a Factor
Valley Patriot ^ | 9/16/12 | Valley Patriot

Last month one of the strongest opponents of Voter ID in the Massachusetts State Legislature, David Torissi (D) North Andover, was defeated by a conservative, Pro Voter-ID opponent named Diana DiZoglio … who is also … a Democrat!

Democrats? In favor of Voter ID?

Who could have thought?

We did.

For years we have reported that approximately 70% of all voters support Voter ID… and that includes Democrats. And for years we have been warning local officials who are Democrats that a tidal wave was coming on this issue. Now an incumbent State Rep., once thought unbeatable, has fallen to a virtual unknown who had no money, no campaign manager, no committee and no help from her party.

How did she do it? In large part it was due to Voter ID, and listening to her constituents.

You see, Diana DiZoglio called into a WCAP radio program when she announced her candidacy months ago. Asked about Voter ID, she said she didn’t have a strong view on it but, as she knocked on doors she would ask the voters and report back.

Weeks later, DiZoglio did call back and told Valley Patriot publisher Tom Duggan on his radio show that more than 2/3 of her constituents (currently being represented by Dave Torissi) favored Voter-ID, adding that she would represent their view if elected.

“After all, I’m not here to represent my views I am here to represent the views of the people in my district. They favor Voter ID, and I will represent that view at the State House,” she said.

A Representative who actually “represents”…. What a concept!

Of course there were other factors in DiZoglio’s defeat of David Torissi:

-DiZoglio out-hustled him and took her message directly to people’s living rooms, one at a time.

-Torissi had burned most of his bridges when he sold out to Willie Lantigua.

-He supported the $35 Million bailout loan for Lawrence’s Mayor Lantigua, then defended that decision after Lantigua blew the $35 Million and laid off cops and closed fire stations anyway.

- He supported driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.

- He told Michael Graham of 96.9 FMtalk to Go F*% himself when asked to explain his vote for illegals.

- He called people in favor of Voter ID “racist.” among other things.

- He ignored the people of North Andover and supported last year’s tax hikes.

Yet with all of the shenanigans Dave Torissi has been involved in, voters we spoke with on Election Day said VOTER ID was largely on their minds when they cast their vote for DiZoglio.

As one voter put it, “Dave adopted the Beacon Hill entitlement mentality. He thinks we’re going to vote for him because his name is Dave Torissi. I voted for the girl, she supports ‘show-ID to vote’ and he supports the illegals!”

Torissi’s defeat last month should be a warning to those more concerned with representing illegals than American citizens.

More than 70% of all voters, of all parties support Voter-ID and are sick of the lies, excuses and insults being fed to them by arrogant politicians and they … they are not racists.

Diana DiZoglio gets it, she is a Democrat who is cresting that wave and that’s one of the reasons she toppled the titan.

She understands that representatives are supposed to represent the views of their constituents, not Willie Lantigua, political insiders or people who are not even supposed to be here in the first place.

We predict that David Torissi is the first of many “untouchables” to fall in years to come as this Voter ID tidal wave starts to surge. And we couldn’t be more delighted.

Conservative on this issue perhaps but where does she stand on all other issues? Pro life? Small gov? Tax and spend etc.?

I think she is a future Republican. I once thought I was a democrat until I started paying attention to issues. Then I realized that I was full blown conservative, and always had been.

I wonder how many Republicans will take the opportunity - - handed to them like a precious gift - - and RUN on the voter ID issue?

'Coon, I wouldn't know any of these Massholes if they came up and bit me on the toe. However, based on a lifetime of lugubrious experience with Democrats, lemme tell ya what's going to happen, Di Zoglio, based on important political factors like cup size and hairdo, will of course take her seat in the whatever it is you people call that retarded billion-dollar, ethanol powered picnic lunch in Springfield.

She will vote against "Voter ID." "Why?" you ask? Because the illegal votes will be needed to keep her there against any (pardon me while I wipe my nose) Republican opposition.

Yawn. Next "Good Democrat" story. Of course, (Whoa Nellie ... is that a pig that just flew by?)this cutie might also have principles and turn Republican.

That which is seen cannot be unseen.

She's still just another (D). Judging by the company she keeps she's hardly an (R) in the making.

“DiZoglio out-hustled him and took her message directly to people’s living rooms, one at a time.”

This is how you win local and small district state races. My former boss was sort of a Republican kingmaker and this kid comes in looking for money- So my boss reaches into his pocket and pulls out a $100 bill and then hands him a biz card with a printer we used and writes a $1,000 on the back and tells him to take it to the printer and get himself some literature and then use the benjamin to buy himself the best pair of shoes to walk in the district. Go house to house and my boss wanted an invitation to his first ‘Coke and Dog’ $5 fundraiser. The guy had no airtime, no yard signs, no buttons. had no office, volunteers calling and working from their homes and he beat a 20-year corrupt incumbent. Because the kid was in their living rooms. The Dems didn’t know what hit them.
