Report: Obama crams for debates, works to keep answers concise
The Hill ^ | 9/16/12 | Julian Pecquet

President Obama is cramming for his three prime-time debates with Mitt Romney next month by practicing brief and concise answers, senior campaign strategist David Axelrod told Reuters.

A gifted orator, Obama has a tendency to give long, detailed answers that the campaign worries could come across as aloof during a televised debate. In his debate prep with sparring partner John Kerry (D-Mass.), Obama has been working on keeping his answers short after four years when he's rarely had to submit to rapid-fire questions.

“He's got to speak shorter, that's all,” Axelrod told Reuters. “He just hasn't had to do that for the last four years so that's a part of the discipline of preparing for these debates.”

Axelrod said that the president was trying to squeeze in preparation time whenever he could, on flights to west coast campaign events and at the White House in the evening.

“We don't have the same luxury that Romney does in terms of time,” he said.

Axelrod also said that Obama was familiarizing himself with Romney’s record and statements during the campaign.

“He's spent a lot of time reading material and most of it is familiarizing himself with what Governor Romney said in this campaign,” he said. “He's pretty conversant with his own record but he wasn't very conversant with Romney's.”

Romney, for his part, will seek to land rhetorical blows as Obama heads into the final stretch of the presidential election with a slight lead in the polls.

Romney’s debate partner is Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and reports said the GOP nominee began prepping earlier this month, while Democrats held their national convention in Charlotte, N.C. Romney and Portman went head-to-head during a week-long retreat at the Vermont home of former Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey (R), a campaign surrogate.

The dummy better hope his moderators don’t go off his talking points. There is a lag time between what he says and what Valerie Jarrett transmits to him. If she has to scramble for an unrehearsed answer, the dummy will be left mumbling like an idiot.

“Translation: When he’s off the teleprompter he goes off the reservation.”

It was clear at the convention. Clinton, as much as a I hate him, had a clear grasp of the dim platform and programs.

Barry, OTOH, just mailed in a generic speech with no meat. There is nothing going on between those jug ears and only his race prevents people from saying it.

Who is the debate moderator of the Ryan vs. Biden debate? I will be shocked if it is anyone fair and balanced, and expect it to be a liberal. Same goes for the Romney vs. Obama debates. Here are the moderators of past debates I expect to see again and they are ALL gunning for Obama:

* Bob Schiefer
* Candy "Butterfingers" Crowley
* Anderson Cooper
* John King from CNN
* Bill Moyers from PBS

And a fresh face for presidential debates:
* Terry Gross from NPR's Fresh Air

Maybe they will have enough decency to at least have a not as bad liberal like Chris Wallace, but even he has a thing for liberals even though he's on Fox.

“A gifted orator,”

That’s where I stopped reading. Figured the rest would be bull crap too. “uh, ah, uh, uh, uh, ah, uh, ah, uh uh, uh, uh, ah, uh, uh, uh, ah, uh, ah, uh uh, uh, uh, ah, uh, uh, uh, ah, uh, ah, uh uh, uh,”.... repeat until liberals are hypnotized by these famous Obama quotes.

Very good. The author manages to wait until the second sentence before dropping the first whopper of a lie.

“cramming” , unusual choice of words.

Cramming indicates he can't remember SCHIT, and I am sure as the Commander of lies it gets extremely difficult for him to remember where he left off. Pretty bad, when you have to CRAM 2 weeks out.

Now where's my glasses with that mic, I can hardly see what I'm thinking/s.

Notice too how his hair is suddenly turned GREY? Wise little acre, that boy is after 4 years, much wiser/s.

That's funny, and sadly so realistic to what will/may happen. At the end you forget the Moderator also said it was RACIST.

GOOD work.

If Obama decides to be concise then Romney should usurp the moderator position and require Obummer to elaborate more, the American citizens deserve details, not sophomoric diversions. That goes double for the Network moderators.

That would be priceless, of if only.

Question Cherokee: don't you think it is time for the Indian Nations to take back this country? (not joking) Time for the COWBOYS and INDIANS to unite.

"A gifted orator, Obama..."

Bullscat!

On a good day, he's a glib, vacuous blabbermouth. On a bad day, he's a gibbering idiot.

On a GREAT day, he slips up and tells us what he's really thinking ...

'cause "you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen!"

And his drones cheer when he does it.

Man, I would love to see someone have the stones to actually do that...

"You know, my opponent brings up a good point, and I think the public really deserves more than some soundbite answers. I'm willing to waive the debate rules and proceed with an in-depth discussion of this issue, as it is so vital..."

Terry Gross once used the death of Rick Santorum’s son to try to claim he was involved in a late-term abortion. She is a scumbag and you might as well have Wasserman-Schultz moderating.

Gifted orators don’t need teleprompters, NARRATORS do.

Obama's in luck. The same liberal elite PR firms that give the questions to liberal moderators will also sneak them to Obama's people.

Ever wonder why the breath taking 'gotcha' questions are always directed at Republicans? Ever wonder why the 'debate' subjects swirl around subjects that make democrats look strong? And subjects that focus groups have found make Republicans uncomfortable?

Here's a hint to liberal debate moderators: Picking questions from a few sheets of suggested questions (with the stupid ones thrown in so you can feel superior) isn't the same as coming up with your own... If we're going to be grilled by dem PR war room types, put them on - and drop the charade.

Hello CNN, hello NBC and ABC...

You asked if I didn’t think it’s time for the Indian Nations to take back this country? My reply: We are; one Casino at a time. LOL. Although, the Reservation my grand dad came off of in Oklahoma is too poor to have a Casino. They just have a few beer joints where they buy their firewater.

ROFL, as you can see, I am an Okie. I know about them casinos. I just thought it might be fun to stir this up, make them MUZZIE get a little scared of the Apaches, Arapaho, Cheyenne's, Sioux, etc, etc.

If any have ever seen "Red Earth" days in Okla., some of them can be very frightening. I'm ready to have some fun with this. Send the muslims, a video of the tribes in war paint and costume and tell them anytime they are ready. bring it on.
