Anti-US sentiment prevalent in Cairo over movie deemed offensive to Islam said to be reason for temporary halt is aid funds

Anti-American protests over a film deemed offensive to Islam, which have started in Cairo and spread across the Muslim world, have reportedly stalled negotiations to provide US economic assistance to Egypt, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

According to the report, Egypt's "clumsy response" to the storming of the US Embassy in Cairo has resulted in the US temporarily halting talks about a proposed $1 billion in debt relief, top Washington officials told the newspaper.

Okay, let me get this strait,

We create a problem by ousting Mubarak $$$, create another problem by supporting the MB to replace him $$$, and NOW we are going to create another problem (stir up a hornets nest) trying to fix the first two problems we created $$$???

Sounds like the work of a DEMOCRAT!!!

Did this come from Obama? i don’t see in the article where it says it came from the WH. A “congressional aide” was quoted. And that should be exactly what congress does. Cut them off...and then monitor the WH for taking a billion out of some slush fund and giving it to them anyway.

Without aid Egypt totally implodes in short order. Tourism has crashed since the glorious Arab Spring and they don’t come remotely close to feeding themselves.

With sky high grain prices they’re gonna be in a world of hurt without massive aid.

Report: US suspends Egypt aid over film riots

Love how the corrupt MSM forwards a lie by continuing to peddle the “they did it because of a film nobody’s seen” lie...

The title is a bit misleading. While the talks may have "stalled" and the aid is "suspended," this admin has every intention of continuing the funding. Just 12 hours ago, Reuters reported this:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will lobby lawmakers this week on the need to keep billions of dollars in aid flowing to Egypt and other countries caught up in a spasm of violent anti-American protests across the Muslim world.

The State Department said Clinton intended to meet with Congress later this week to discuss the protests, which saw U.S. diplomatic missions attacked and the U.S. ambassador to Libya killed amid fury over a film produced in the United States that many saw as an insult to Islam.

Hillary is not doing this without WH approval or urging. The only way the aid stops is if the House does the right thing. Defunding the countries would be a good start, but any subsequent violence would be blamed on Republicans not supporting the so-called fledgling democracies of the region.

These Congressional meetings will be more about both parties obtaining or denying the issue for the presidential campaign.

Did Romney say something about cutting funding to Egypt?
Obama seems to shadow what ever Romney says first.

So does this mean we are not going to borrow the money from the Chinese at interest to give it to the Egyptians to use against Israel and the Coptic Christians?

I suppose that it would be more efficient if the Muslim Brotherhood borrowed it directly from the Chinese and cut out the middleman.

If the military in Egypt has no power after all of the aide we have already given them through the years as a reward for the now disavowed Camp David Accords, then what good was it anyway? Now the accords are no more, so the reward should be no more as well.

Yeah, all of these sudden changes of heart are going to last until about 1 minute after the last polling place closes on election night.

After that, regardless of who wins, he's going to finally get take off the mask and it's going to Obama unplugged until he leaves office.

If he loses expect to see an angry man do everything he can to punish the country that rejected him and to sabotage things as much as he can to make it as difficult as possible for Romney to take over as President.

“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” The quote comes from page 261 of the paperback edition of “The Audacity of Hope.

The winds have indeed shifted, the stench is deafening, yet Barry stands with the origin of the stench that is wafting into the USA. At least this statement is in his own words, but few listened.

Way to go Obama. Good move removing a moderate ally in Mubarak in favor of the America-hating Muslim Brotherhood. Why are we giving money to this terrorist organization in the first place?

You know, I’ve wondered if they (radical rioting Muslims in Egypt) would be so bold as to tear up the wondrous history in that country...like they’ve done in other parts of the world. They don’t care about those pyramids, etc., and destroying them would be another way of flipping off the rest of the world.

Exactly. People have fallen for the headline. They’re not even “suspending” the aid but simply “suspending” talks about giving more aid.

Congress cutting off funds to Egypt? It’s a good start. They need to do same for all other Muslim controlled anti-American nations.

Exactly. Allegedly they are stopping temporarily talks abour excusing $1 billion in debt.

According to the report, Egypt's "clumsy response" to the storming of the US Embassy in Cairo has resulted in the US temporarily halting talks about a proposed $1 billion in debt relief, top Washington officials told the newspaper.

And there will not be any halt in aid recently approved by Congress. The propaganda is that future aid may be suspended, but Congress has already said as much pending a number of factors. The bottomline is that the aid money will continue to flow to Egypt.

One official hedged that "no new aid is likely to be approved for Egypt until after the US presidential election."

Read the article and don't be fooled by the headline. Congress just passed the Omnibus funding bill that contains aid to Egypt thru March of next year. It will continue to flow. There is no suspension of aid, just a suspension temporarily in the talks regarding the excusing of $1 billion in debt.

Stringent, non-negotiable conditions should be attached to Egyptian aid.

"Congress should exercise its oversight powers to evaluate the aid package and the Morsi government’s suitability for continued aid. It should approve the debt reduction package and continued foreign aid only if the Egyptian government makes ironclad commitments to:

Fully protect U.S. citizens and property, particularly the U.S. embassy and other diplomatic posts;

Maintain the peace treaty with Israel and stop deploying additional forces in the Sinai without prior Israeli approval;

Cooperate in fighting al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations; and

Implement policies that protect the rights of its citizens, including freedom of religion, expression, and association, as well as due process of law".

They stressed that the delay will be temporary and that "there is no major reevaluation of US aid to Egypt."

Translation: WH is in CYA mode, until after the election. Then it will be business as usual.

Good. Egypt knew about the attacks. Their failure to protect the Embassies in their land is an act of war.

And now they’ve issued arrest warrants for Americans for exorcising their right of free speech.

Bite the hand that feeds you, and you can fend for yourselves.

What is the meaning of this?! Who do you think we are, Israelis? Suspend aid to them when they don’t riot. When you suspend aid to us just for attacking your embassy, we just might riot some more. So there. Pay up.
