(KTVI) Missouri U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill and U.S. Representative Todd Akin will be squaring off in a debate Friday morning in Columbia at 10:45 am.
Immediately before that, Governor Jay Nixon will face republican challenger Dave Spence in a debate.
Both debates will also include libertarian candidates, Jonathan Dine for the senate, and Jim Higgins for governor.

Should be interestng. Prayers for Todd.
Woo hoo! This should be where Akin wins it. She’ll just hammer the “rape” drum over and over that people are already tired of. Akin has a boatload of ammo though.
McCasskill would not be debating if he was dead in the water after his “legitamate rape” comment
I suspect the debate will be all about that
I hope he has the sense to address it, say it was a stupid comment and then say he’s done discussing it... then go on the attack for being a supporter of baby murder
keep turning it and turning it and turning it every time they repeat “legitmate rape” go so far as to say “is that all you want to talk about tonight?”
I hope is ready for the assholes that will attempt to humiliate him inclusive of his opponent.
That should be fun —
I only live about 5 miles away. Will be cheering him on. Also doing a lot praying.
I HOPE he is bright enough to re-finesse his prior totally indefensible and stupid comments.
We NEED that seat.
Maybe Akin could say that “Claire is always for the legitimate rape of the taxpayers. I say it is totally natural to shut her down.”
When will the calls for Scott Brown and Connie Mack to rebrand themselves as Conservatives start?
I’m in Missouri, all I’ve seen is MCaskill advertising how she is dead in the middle conservative, after running last time as Obama’s BFF! I like how the Libs always throw in a couple of votes now and then against their hero, when it is meaningless and already ahead by 30 votes, just so they can run it on an ad.
Her ads are all about how many times she voted against the O, which should tell you how great Obama is doing in reality.
She also skipped the democrat convention.
They should ask Akin if he agrees with his wife’s comments that he was raped by the Republican Party.
*****************************************************************
Ah...why should they do that? She’s not the candidate.
Verbal discretion is the order of the day — especially for his significant other if you know what I mean.
He's been in debates before and won. I imagine he has been thoroughly prepped for this one.
And as you notice they are very short for that reason.
Interesting.
The Dems are just a lot better at manipulating public opinion than Republicans. They LIKE Government, the LIKE politics. To us conservatives, its just a necessary evil.
I hope McCaskell gets beat. She is a liar like her puppetmaster.
In a sense, he WAS raped by the Republican Party, and it was more like a gang rape, as the GOP toadies piled on.
“Rape” probably wasn’t the word she really wanted to use, however.
Sounds like he is right on all the issues.
I hope he is ready to finesse his way out of that comment. You KNOW they will bring it up.
McCaskill should be asked if she still stans by her definition of NBC being TWO CITIZEN PARENTS which she put her name to on SR511.
Now that would be a good question for her -- and a whole lot of Senate candidates.
If this debate is Sept. 21, I guess that means that Akin won’t drop out on Sept. 25. I had expected him to fold earlier; few people can withstand the pressure that he did from the grand poo-bahs. Pretty soon they will be talking more about Mitt’s gaffes than that of Akin.
Will try to be here to view the stream for the debate. Heard a few rumors that Claire may not show up? I am praying for Congressman Akin.
For you dear:)
Thank you, Katiedid!
I have had a feeling all along that Missourians will remember how Claire sold us out to Obama and do the right thing come Nov. 6th. If Newt targets all his attention to helping Todd in these final days by helping Todd attack the Obama clone (McCaskill), he will win big and give us a true conservative Senator for Missouri.
Thanks for posting the article, Katie. It has given me even more assurance that my prayers are being answered.
First off, I don't think men should be using the word "rape" in anything other than the literal meaning. It is something so horrifying to women that men really can't comprehend it. If Mrs. Akin wants to say this, on the other hand, she's a woman and she can get away with it.
But back to the main point...
I'm on Akin’s mailing list. He's been attacking the national Republican leadership for weeks now. This has turned into a really nasty race.
The blame for that falls squarely on the national Republican leadership.
Scott Brown may well have needed to distance himself from Akin. I believe in federalism and I do not have a problem with that. What works in Massachusetts won't necessarily work in Missouri, and vice versa.
What happened next with the massive anti-Akin attack was unnecessary at best, and has created the very real possibility that Akin will enter the United States Senate with a mandate to attack Republican leadership as weak-knee compromisers who hate Christians almost as much as they fear Christians.
I would never have asked for this, but when life deals lemons, it's time to make lemonade. Having Akin become a Christian conservative standardbearer in the Senate proving that Christians win when we stand on pro-life principles would not be a bad thing.
Thanks for posting this, Katie. As I’ve said before, Gingrich’s action is important, and could become a game changer.
I hope to see you all in St. Charles this PM with Todd.
It is at the Embassy Suites in the Windsor Ballroom at 3 PM
